What if Adams, Fournette, and Thomas are all there at 8? Who is the pick?

I'll pay this game. but I would bank on none of these guys being their and if there was one that could potentially be there its probably Fournette.

With that being said,  I would still choose Fournette over those other 2.

Safety, running back, and DE class is really deep this year.  We really lucked out on the depth of this draft and where our needs are.

Fournette 100%

well our secondary was poop.   Our defense was poop as a result.

Our defense struggled for multiple reasons. A lot of short fields, injuries, being on the field much of the game, and yes youth and inexperience in the secondary. Doesn't mean you go out and take a top safety over a top DE at 8 if both are there.

This is kind of a crazy scenario.  Adams is widely considered one of the best prospects in the entire draft.  As is Fournette.

So I think it would go in this order for us:

1.  Adams - just the best possible player at the spot.

2. Fournette - would be a true  game changer at the position.  A long term upgrade.

3. Thomas - while he has the skill set to play DE for us, he said he prefers inside. (https://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/04/18/nfl-draft-solomon-thomas-stanford-cardinal-position-defensive-end-tackle)

So Thomas may not be in the running for us.  Who knows!

I could see one sneaking to us, but not all three.

I agree that the Safety class is very deep, and that would be the only reason I would skip over Adams. But he is easily the second best player in this draft, and a guaranteed All Pro.

I disagree, however, that the DE class is deep. There are maybe 4-5 typical 4-3 DEs in this draft that are worth picking in the first three rounds. Outside of that, you have hybrid edge rusher DE/LB hybrids that are filling the boards of 3-4 based teams.

IF all three are on the board, and we choose to pass on Adams, then Thomas is the next best choice.

One could argue the RB class is deep this year, or that we need a RB less than we do DE and S.

Thomas and Adams are gonna be good no doubt.  I almost feel like the answer has to be Fournette b/c he plays offense!  Although I keep watching Adams highlights (yes I know highlights are meant to make any player look awesome) but damn he looks so fast and such a good tackler.  Hell, I wouldn't be upset with any of those 3.  6 more days, ha

doesn't mean you can afford to continuously ignore the secondary....and thinking drafting lineman will solve all your problems.

Need matters.  It isn't the end all be all but it should impact how you draft and build your team.  BPA in a vacuum could be a DT at any given point.  Doesn't mean we should draft him.

Better off worrying about fixing an OL that can't run block to save their lives.....then invest in a RB.  Don't need to develop a RB, can just plug in and play.   OL will take awhile.

DE is a significantly bigger need than safety.

secondary as a whole is a bigger need than the DL

I am not disputing DE isn't a need I want addressed.   I said I would go Thomas then Adams by the way.

But we need DB talent.  We aint got enough and that hurt us tremendously last year.

Thomas, the drop off in talent at de is bigger then s and rb

This ^ and positional value.  At pick 8 a running back would automatically be one of the higher paid running backs in the league.  A successful DE on that same contract would present a lot value relative to other players at the same position.

Personally I would go DE, S, and than RB.  For whatever reason of those three players I'm just afraid he has the highest "bust" chance.  With that being said he might have the higher ceiling but I tend to be conservative.

I think Thomas and Adams are two of the safer picks among the 5-6 prospects.  In some ways I think Thomas might be a safer pick than Garrett even though Garrett has more potential.  Thomas remind somewhat of a smaller JJ Watt.  He tested a lot like him in that he did extremely well in both the power and speed categories.  Most players do well in one or the other.  Also he seems to be a bit of a "try hard" (which is a good thing) so I think the dedication will always be there.
