Drafting ANY form of talent on offense or defense, helps Cam. How many years did Peyton waste putting up ridiculous numbers because he had to because his defense couldn't stop a highschool team from scoring? Not to mention that Peyton didn't win Superbowl 50, his defense did.

This. I want an elite prospect at #8. I wouldn't pass on an elite defender to reach on offense.

Gettleman dancing around the pointed question: "do you consider Christian McCaffrey a 3 down back?". Twinkle-toes out here putting on a show.

I don't think he danced. He said in pretty clear terms that he was a 3 down back because he can run and catch. Even said he didn't want to sound like a smartass when he answered the question.

I agree, kinda. However, I also felt how Jeremy felt:

Not sure what to make of it. He wasn't trying to be a smartass, yet he answered like one. On purpose. The way he answered that question is how you would answer a question on an AP Football Exam in Highschool (if such a thing existed). A bunch of fluff words that sounded pretty but didn't really address the question directly. If he wasn't trying to be a smartass, he could have just said "Yes". But he didn't.

It would have been interesting if someone, at a later point in the Presser, had pointedly asked "Do you see Leonard Fournette as a 3 down back?" just to compare how he answered.

Fournette / McCaffrey

No way in hell we are taking any CBs

DEs in the mid round

TE in 2nd and 3rd

I love how something like this is said every year.  "We don't need a linebacker"-- See the years we drafted Luke and Shaq

"Why would Gettleman take a DT?"-- See after we drafted KK in round 2 when we took Star in round 1 and last year when we took Butler.

Then the man took 3 corners IN A ROW last year.

Quite simply, the man doesn't give a poo what anyone thinks we will, won't, should, shouldn't, could, or couldn't do.

Gettleman doesn't think RBs were devalued by NFL teams in recent years. Says there just weren't elite players at the position in years past.

Dave Gettleman on if he would take a RB at No. 9: "You aren't going to win if you don't run the ball in this league."     (9?)

Did we trade back?  Must have missed that

From what I gather it looks like offense will take a backseat again. Cam will be stuck struggling with poor talent and aging vets around him. Hopefully I am wrong but it looks like CB, DE, S, RB first 3 rounds.

We did better overall when Cam had less weapons and took what was given to him as opposed to pressing and trying to play hero ball. Playing field position, causing turnovers, and scoring touchdowns in the red zone got us to the Super Bowl. Cam can make plays when we put him in good position. The only can't miss offensive prospect would be an elite OT but that obviously won't be there at 8. Cam can make due with average offensive talent as long as our defense doesn't give up the game-winning drive with 30 seconds left every game. It's who we are, like it or not.

I think you are correct on this some what.

I would bet we take atleast 1 cah'nah in this draft.   our corners after Bradberry and maybe Captain aren't reassuring by any means.

I really like the Minnesota kid Jalen Myrick. poo behind Captain for a year great nickelback.

Yet we are without a Super Bowl win. Mainly because of having a great defense but lacking offensive weapons to create mismatches against good defenses.
