I'm not.  I wanted Samuel and thought Zay was a bit overrated and overhyped.  My concern would be someone putting our organization at a disadvantage to improve another.

It's a farfetched possibility but it's not something I'd fully discount. If the team suspects something, then we should not be blinded by trust.

McDermott would be well ware of the Panthers needs just for having been with us so long, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce the kinds of player we may have liked. None of this requires any shenanigans, and if Beane leaves to join McD in Buffalo then best of luck in that awkward situation. The Panthers will be just fine.

Don't buy it, but the bigger the story becomes in terms of media exposure and national attention, the less likely he takes the job because the optics look so sketchy.

Just because our draft still went well doesn't mean it couldn't have been better, and even if we don't recognize the harm done because we don't know the difference, doesn't mean that action shouldn't go unpunished.

The attitude that it doesn't matter because we appear to be unaffected is a huge problem with the world at large today. You don't let poo pass you by because you're ok. Wrongdoing should be punished or else it turns into more down the line and when it does affect us, they can point to all the times we did nothing. It's short sighted.

I like Moton and Samuel too, not sure if Jones and Dawkins would be better, but the thing is we'll never know. If Gman would have taken those two guys over the ones we got, then I have to say I'd rather have our top choices. We can rationalize the picks as good anyway because we're fans, and honestly I feel like they'll both be great anyway. Lets not pretend that the guys who we would have taken sucked because we didn't get to take them-- reserve that for NFCS. There's no logic to saying that Zay isn't as good as Samuel, even though if we were given the option of both, we'd have taken Zay. Clearly the decision maker whose talent evaluation we all ultimately rely on would have made a different choice, so yeah I couldn't say Zay is worse. This all relies on the leaking being true though.

I'd also like to posit another idea-- what if Beane was a double agent? The FO was apparently jumping and cheering when we got to select Samuel. Maybe Beane fed them Zay as the target and allowed our guy to drop. Maybe we had both similarly graded, but Samuel fit better.. who knows.

Here's the more likely scenario.  We were rumored to be highly interested in these players who happened to be players the Bills were also highly interested in, so they jumped us.  It happens in drafts all the time.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was true, people can be pretty sorry and stuff like this happens in every industry where there is competition. But I will say if I was looking to hire someone and they fed me insider information on my competitor I'd have a hard time believing they wouldn't do the same to me down the road.
