Ironic.

Proud southerner...lol. I can't get behind that, and I am a southerner. Like you said, though..this is America. Be proud of what you want.

It's weird that some people would have been more cool with drafting Joe Mixon for breaking a girl's jaw than they would be for signing Kap because he took a knee during the national anthem a few weeks. You know, just saying.

Such passiveness.

DA has proven he's not able to read defense very well, either. Should we just release him now?

Anderson has won us more games than he's lost, and I'm pretty sure no one's ever had to dumb down an offense for him.

That said, I won't be surprised if we have a different backup next season (Anderson's contact is up, if I recall correctly). But no, not Kaepernick.

I don't care about the politics. Nor do I care about his past trash talk toward Newton. But the reality is that Kaepernick just isn't that good.

Unless we're hiring Jim Harbaugh sometime soon, I don't see a reason to look at Kaepernick.

Besides the fact that Kaepernick stares down his receivers and couldn't read a defense to save his life.

There is no way J.R. is going to allow an unpatriotic asshole on this team.  The Panthers would be the laughing stock of this league.  He splits locker rooms and is garbage.  Furthermore, the Carolinas are saturated with the U.S. Military and would be an insult to our troop.   As a veteran of 25 years, I would have to write JR a letter totally disapproving of the signing.

I would rather we sign RGKnee or promote Joe Webb to #2.  (that is if we were to let Anderson go)

way back when, mr scot went all in on his defense of nolan nawrocki's infamous "scouting" hit piece on cam newton. reminder:
“Very disingenuous — has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup.  Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them.  Has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law — does not command respect from teammates and will always struggle to win a locker room . . . Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness — is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example.  Immature and has had issues with authority.  Not dependable.”

it's clear you know the type of people you're dealing with here but hopefully this added context is useful to any observers.

Wow he defended that crap?? I knew I had him blocked for a good reason.

Our fan base would be relentless in making sure everyone knows we don't want him here

This is one of the few things the owners have done I agree with

This guy is total garbage...hope he never puts on an NFL uniform again

Why is he garbage? Because he used his platform to make a stand and a statement? Or because he sucks as a qb, even a bu?

Maybe so but doesn't mean it is right...disrespecting the American Flag is NOT something we as true Americans should condone

When the progressive sports media says he "deserves" a chance it says much more about them then it does about Kap

On fnz yesterday they talked about this WAY TOO MUCH...even had some leftist NY writer on to push his agenda

We are in NC and don't give a crap about what some NY writer thinks and his social agenda...fnz just keeps getting worse and worse

I hope he never gets an NFL uniform again

Tinderbox pls

Nobody here cares about your beliefs that you're trying to impose on a football player you'll never spend any significant amount of time around.

He used his privilege as a multi million $$ NFL player to push his own radical agenda...let him play on your team...don't want anything to do with him here

I don't know. He put everything on the line, for free speech. Something most of us won't do. It's being proven everyday since. The Panthers are not interested, of that I have no doubt. But to hold an American's opinion against him because you don't agree. Well I guess that all rage nowadays.

    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
