Give me the guy that can tackle. That appears to be Corn. Sanchez is more like a little Tre Boston - gambling for the splash play.

^ THIS

Splash plays are nice, but damn give me a guy who can tackle and play physical all dayyy over the occasional splash play.

Don't get me wrong I hope Elder becomes the next great Panthers corner,  and I'm definitely not sold on Sanchez, but what makes this guy head and shoulders above Sanchez?

This time last year I remember weighing two conflicting ideologies re: Sanchez.

1) We never keep more than one nickel.
2) Gettleman never cuts draft picks.

We know which one prevailed, so it's interesting this is an either/or proposition when recent history says it could easily (or even likely) be "neither."

Now, to be fair nickel has been terribly underrepresented seeing as that's become our most-used formation on defense (last year we typically put 3 CB & 2 LB on the field vs. rostering 5 CB to 7 LB). Usually we only bring in another NB after an injury or when the starter is outright cut.

I think our staff was stuck a bit in the past, viewing nickel as essentially another backup and not seeing how important the position has become. See: lowballing Captain, signing Finnegan off the couch, cutting Bene and trying to make McClain happen, etc. Bringing Captain back is a positive sign of potential growth, and perhaps they'll buck the trend and keep one of these two (they should, though I don't think you can justify both).

Related: I've lamented our outside corner depth behind BB/DW, but recent reports suggest that Captain will see time outside if needed. This gives credence - and a potential roster spot - to a second nickel, but it'll be bucking a trend if they go that route. Would be reminiscent of when we moved Bene outside after Peanut's injury, but we'd have a young prospect to fill NB instead of Cortland Finnegan's corpse.

Now if they could just find another backup CB that isn't Teddy Williams...

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27
    • Your intelligence is artificial.
    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
