I knew that I had lost it at 37. I hadn't been on the court in awhile, called myself running and jumping up to grab the rim like I used to---no problem---but totally missed it by probably a couple of inches.  And then this young "kid" who worked there (at the Y) talking 'bout, "Man, you alright?"

I'm 65 and I haven't lost it.  It's hard to find sometimes, but when I do................................whoooooweeeee.

Ha!

Hilarious and sad at the same time. Exact same thing happened to me at the Y.  I shrugged it off the first time, just assuming gravity got a little stronger or something.

Figured out later it wasn't that.

On the bright side, my long range jumper hasn't suffered ;)

Well, you know, I really don't see it as "sad" per se, just a part of life. Not trying to toot my own horn, but other than that pure athleticism, wind and will, I'm in pretty good shape for a dude near 50 (or so I've been told). Some young kids at the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle guessed that I was still in my thirties. Of course I had shaved the head and had my hat on, but it was still nice. I wouldn't go that far (the kids must not have looked closely), but I do dust most men my age up as far as physical appearance and vitality. I have good genes as far as that is concerned, but the struggle is still real. There is a decline even if it's subtle, and on an intellectual level it really does suck, but I'm not sad about it though, just accepting my role and trying to transition with grace and style.

I wonder if there are players on any NFL team who have fathers the same age as Adams? It is possible. My dad was 19 when I was born in Columbia as he played for the Gamecocks.  When I played in college, he was 37.  I thought he was an old has-been
