First of all Davis's cap will go down from this year with an extension not go up. Secondly the problem was going from 15-1 to 6-10 arguably due to Gettleman's mistakes. The Davis thing was likely the flash point which convinced Richardson that Gettleman's ego was too big at this point and he pissed everyone off.

Exactly. Many members of this forum brainwashed themselves into thinking Gettleman was some kind of genius and he clearly wasn't. You can not praise the man for going 15-1 and then gloss over the fact his decisions led us to 6-10 the very next year, or that we were 7-8-1 the year before that.

I'll second this.

  • 15-1 to 6-10, largely do to roster issues (young secondary which didn't have to be, and lack of quality depth on the O-Line)
  • Seems like a lot of players really don't like how he does business--and that counts.  He basically ran off Gross and Gamble, pissed off Beason, DWill, and Smitty, and was ready to play his ultimatum poo with TD and Olsen.  If it wasn't for CJ being real hometown hero, GMan would be batting 1.000 on running off our veteran talent.
  • Reportedly doesn't get along well with Rivera.  That counts for something.
  • Loves interior defensive linemen, but where are the young edge rushers?  How on earth do you go into two seasons depending on Michael Oher and one depending on Matt Kalil as your starting LTs without at least attempting to find replacements in the draft?  But take three consecutive CBs after a DT and tell everyone you're drafting BPA.  C'mon, man...

The only thing I'm sure of here is that the next hire is going to be pretty good, and maybe better.  The sky isn't falling, and I'm still looking forward to August.

Yeah that division was so bad that's why we were 12-4. Get the fug out.

2014 was the year they had the tie and went to the playoffs w a losing record so yeah, the division was pretty bad.

It is a business, Gettleman getting fired is a part of that so stop crying about it. Cam still here

It is a business, players getting cut for underperformance is a part of that. Unless you're one of Jerry's favorites.. Then you're untouchable

    • I'm right there with you, brother. I've been a Panther fan since the day the team was awarded to the Carolinas.  We've had some good years, a couple of great years, as well as some low periods and no consecutive winning seasons. But I never thought I'd see such a period as we have over the past several years.   It has gotten to the point of being rather apathetic in watching them. In fact, I told my wife before the Miami game I was watching just to see what new and creative way they lose another game. And early on, it looked like they would. But damned if Miami wasn't more creative than the Panthers.   I'm now older than my Dad when he died (he was 65) and, like you, I've wondered if I'll ever see them have another winning season. I'd sure like to think I will.
    • again, I am not his employer, I dont follow his stuff or read any of it including social media, but he has been employed long enough where someone thinks he is doing a good job, not disagreeing he isnt an moron but I am not calling for anyones job for being a moron when it really doesnt affect me
