What has Jerry Richardson done in two plus decades that gives you any hope he has the slightest idea he knows what he's doing?

I will answer that. Great man but he is clueless when it comes to running a WINNING NFL franchise

Listen I know some of you just want to sweep this under the rug and proceed to go to TC like nothing happened, but that's just unrealistic hope. It's going to be talked about for the rest of the season and probably longer. The best way to suppress the conversation is if the Panthers win games.

firing the best GM in team history at the height of our team's success a week before the most anticipated training camp in our team's history at the behest of an owner unqualified by his history to make those kinds of decisions is a catastrophic event in this team's history.

outrage is warranted.

He stepped back and let somebody who had an actual track record of success choose a new GM that would run the team and make the hard decisions that Richardson himself wasn't willing to make.

That was a very good thing. Unfortunately, all the Goodwill from that is now gone.

My hope is that this time around, he does the same thing. It would be in the best interest of the franchise for him to do so.

Time will tell on that front.

I would be calm if he had fired him at the end of the season with a new GM. Now we get the worst GM that we have ever had. No thanks I've seen what Hurney caused.

You started following the Panthers after 2001, didn't you?

OP is correct. It's perfectly fine to be upset and angry over stuff like this. But I feel like throwing away your fandom because of it is a bit extreme. I know when I watch the panthers I'm not cheering for the front office. I'm cheering for the players. I'm cheering for Cam. For Greg. For Luke. For all of them. Do I like the decisions that have taken place? No. But I can't just quit on the team and the players. I think we just need to sit down and relax before we all lose our heads.

yeah, can't wait until we're trying to re-sign Star, Norwell and Turner and JR is like "whoops, looks like we spent all our cap space extending thomas davis until he's 40"

hey, i'm sure those guys will understand and take less money to stay, right?

Thanks OP. Some of the reactions of here have been over the top hysterical.

It's a concerning move Jerry made, I am not a fan of it, and I think a better explanation should be given, but a lot of people here have lost their damn minds.  Including people I've always thought of as well reasoned and respected.

some serious bullsshit just happened and im all for the fans making their voices heard. Especially on messageboards and twitter where this kind of behavior is permitted.

This is complete bullsh*t and you know it. You and the people who pied you know it. Y'all were the main ones getting on other fans for acting emotional when other moves were made, particularly the Norman & Smith situations, but now it's ok to be emotional. Mane, get outta here.
