Better rookie season for Christian McCaffrey or Leonard Fournette?

You do realize that Reggie Bush and Christian McCaffrey are not the same person? Just because player X did this, doesn't mean player Y will do this.

Keep beating that drum though...RUN CMC gonna prove you wrong and you will just vanish off the face of the Huddle, or create some other dumb alt...either way, get pooped on again.

Bush wasn't half the player in college that CMC was. Did Bush break Barry freaking Sanders yards from scrimmage record? I remember Bush being a highlight machine, but not much of an every down back. CMC is a much better all around football player than Reggie Bush. Bush might be a slightly better overall athlete, but I'll take CMC 10/10 times.

You can't be serious Reggie Bush was WAY more talented than CMC. Quicker, Faster (damn near fastest player in NFL). Vision and did kick returns and punts, If Reggie had as many carries as CMC he would have had 3k yards. Stop with the madness bro

I like CMC and I think he'll have a good season and will help to truly transform the offense.  But I'm not really seeing any huge rushing numbers or things like that.  Having high all purpose yards is a possibility but I imagine we'll be spreading the ball around quite a bit (which will be great for the Panthers) so the numbers might not end up being jaw dropping but that won't diminish his effectiveness when used properly.

Also, for anyone trying to discredit Bush doesn't remember how absolutely phenomenal he was.

To answer the Q directly, Fournette will get the touches, but I believe CMC will have more of an impact, and that won't necessarily represented by statistics.

Reggie Bush was an amazing athlete with amazing highlights hyped up to be the next Barry Sanders/Gale Sayers, but unfortunately he never lived up to it. He never had the vision or patience to run in the box. At USC he never had to. Lendale White was the north and south runner. He didn't develop that skill until later in has career in Miami, but by that point he was past his peak. One of CMC's biggest trait is his vision. Watch any of his tapes or look through scouting reports. This imo is the most important trait a rb needs than speed or power. Luckily CMC has above average speed and agility combine numbers we haven't seen in a decade.

Bush was a very good receiving back and had more opportunities to show those skills in college and in the pros, but I argue in terms of polish and potential, CMC is better. CMC through college and in training camp has shown no one can cover him one on one. He has route running ability of some of the best slot receivers and potentially could be the best receiving back in the next few years.

Reggie Bush was part of the dominant years of USC's recent history with NFL starters all across the offense. Ryan Kalil being part of that O-line. CMC supporting cast was nowhere close to Reggie's. Stanford's offense was CMC. He broke Reggie Bush's Pac 12 record and Barry Sanders all purpose yards. Interesting to point out that he beat out Barry Sanders' son Barry Sanders Jr. for the job to get the record. I was following Stanford specifically to keep up with Barry Sanders Jr. But along came this son of Ed McCaffrey that turned out be the one who would amaze me.

While in terms of weight and height they're very similar, body type they're totally different. Reggie was built like a WR, CMC is built with a good lower base, the ideal rb body. A lot of people were worried about his bench, but he came from a Stanford Conditioning program that de-emphasized conventional weight training. I never understood this argument that his stature would not hold up in the league when you look at great backs just in the last 20 years and they're not to far away from his measurables of 5'11" 205lbs. He has a style that will serve him well at avoiding big hits, unlike Fournette who I personally would have love to have but he runs with such violence that it's impossible that he won't have a shortened career because of it.

People rightly keep repeating that its preseason. So I'm not completely willing to admit I was absolutely wrong yet when i didn't want him.  CMC looks very impressive and I'm feeling great about him as a player based on his skill set and the way he's flashing. But some of these points are valid. He could get smashed up on the inside runs if overused.  He could be misused overall by RR and Shula. If he isn't successful as a runner, or is only a 3rd down back or used in all the ways he can be a threat then we've spent an 8th pick on a gadget player. That was what I feared and should current trends continue i will be very happy to be proven wrong.

Fournette I really didn't want. His stats against good schools were terrible and all his big games were against weaker teams. He was injured a lot and inconsistent.

I hope that CMC tears it up and proves me wrong but I'm gonna wait and see before crowning him.
