Two concerning matchups vs Lions

Ziggy Ansah vs Matt Kalil - May need to get Matt some help if he struggles with Ziggy early on.

Golden Tate vs Munnerlyn or Shaq Thompson -  Not sure if Munnerlyn is in Rivera's dog house or not but it sure seems like it. Hard to expect Shaq to cover Tate.

Really thinking we may see a lot of zone coverage in this game.

Darius Slay is a really good corner.

Quote

He’s lined up against Larry Fitzgerald, Odell Beckham Jr. and Julio Jones. In that time, he’s allowed a catch rate of 58.3% and passer rating of 38.9

I'm not sure if they'll put him on KB or Fun Fun but it could be a tough matchup for either guy.

seriously, what the hell is going on? And we did this against two pass-heavy teams. Not sure how this season has shaped up for Detroit but typically they are another one. I I know they wanted to stop the run but I actually like Capt up around the LOS. He is pretty good at getting in the backfield and getting to the RB or QB.

I wish we had an elite FS and we could just play single high with Shaq and Capt both on the field.

Is Matt Kalil even going to play?

Slay is good but not that big.  He is listed at 6 feet even but looks smaller.  Giving up 5 inches to Funches and Benjamin.  So maybe alot lot of down the field jump balls in this game.   And by 5 inches I don't mean :Eggplant_Emoji_Icon_42x42:, but maybe that to

Matt is gaining chemistry with the rest of the oline so he’ll be fine.. & ziggy is not the best de we’ve play’d This season this is just some more pessimistic propaganda..

also shaq nor captain are liabilities against slots.. this is also another fabricated narrative..

Hopefully Jarred Davis and Golladay each take one more week coming back but they'll both most likely play.

But Kalil can prove something Sunday, Pats don't really have anyone worth a damn at defensive end but Ziggy is no slouch

Ansah has been "injured" in some form or another since the early goings of last year. He has had a mostly quiet year aside from the Giants game. I'll admit ignorance, I don't know much about Matt Kalil. But unless he is as bad as Ereck "WTF am I doing in the NFL" Flowers, I personally don't expect Ansah to make much of a visible impact on this game.

That being said, if Jarrad Davis is back, then the whole defense takes on another look entirely. Crazy that a rookie MLB has that much impact on the team, but here we are...

Lol Shaq is a huge liability covering WRs in the slot.

Throw in the fact that we are facing Golden Tate this week it’s even worse.

Not sure what you’ve been watching

    • From Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/nutshellsportz.bsky.social/post/3mo3rkrcezs2e  A look at Run Threat Rate across the NFL Run Threat Rate is the percentage of plays where a team either runs the ball or uses play action. This compares each team’s rate when leading or tied versus when trailing to show how much they abandon the run when playing from behind.
    • That's the current dilemma on both parties at the moment. If Ickey comes back too soon, he won't be 100% and his play will suffer. Leading to a potential decrease in his contract. If Ickey is unable to play and sits the entire 2026 season, his contract will still take the same hit since it tells all 32 team that he is not fully recovered. On the Panthers side, I'm sure they would want to keep Ickey if he is fully recovered but he is obviously in a contract year. They don't want to re-sign him to a massive deal since it be too risky and they know if Ickey is able to return to form.  Best case scenario, the Panthers wants to offer Ickey a 1-2 year heavily incentive based prove it deal. However, Ickey would most likely decline the offer and test the market as  another team can come in and offer Ickey a better deal if they are desperate enough for O-line help.
    • They have been giving him a lot of snaps at RT to give TMo some relief in camp. I think that will continue for the time being.
