If Shula were to be fired...

Would you trade for Chud from the Colts? Aren't a ton of other options if Shula was fired (you don't just bring in some random guy like Turner mid season, and there's nobody to promote from within). And if you'd want Chud here as OC, what would you give up? Colts coaching staff doesn't seem like they have a lot of time left and the GM may want to get draft picks for a coach if possible.

Yes it's a dumb hypothetical, but what else is there to discuss right now? And, not sure if it's even allowed in the league (maybe @Mr. Scot knows), but not sure why it wouldn't be as you can trade HC's.

I suppose it's possible. I can't recall a time it ever happened though.

Truthfully, might not be necessary. The Colts are garbage this year too and Pagano has been on the hot seat before.

Heck, even if the staff isn't fired, Chudzinski's contract could be up.

To be clear though, all of this is "next year" talk. I can't really see anything like this happening in the middle of a season.

Why? I don't see this team going to the SB or championship game with this offense so why not

Maybe not as dumb as you think.  Very rare that a coach would leave mid season.  I honestly have never heard of that but I don't know of anything that would stop it if you offered a high draft pick or two.  Especially if Chud would be available after the season.  I don't know when his contract would be up but the entire Colts staff may just be canned.

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
