3-2 on the 5 game stretch

early in the season I was concerned about the 5 games we just played.  4 road games, and a home game vs. the Eagles, although at that time, I didn't think the Eagles would be that good.  I posted we should be happy with 3-2, especially considering games lost by Ryan, Luke, Greg and Kurt.

and here we are, 3-2 after 4 road games, including a division rival and the freaking Patriots.

yet somehow I'm so pissed we threw away the game at Chicago.  I know they have a good D, but our O played like crap, and on top of that we were unlucky.  So where do we stand at 5-3?

a half game out of first in our division, behind a Saints team that has won 5 in a row.  Falcons right behind us, and we host them Sunday (4 of our remaining 8 games are division rivals).  We should be 6-2, but we're 5-3 hosting a team that has beaten us 3 straight.  Maybe I should have considered it a 6 game stretch.

We need to win this game, as much as I told myself 3-2 would be a good thing in the 5 game stretch, but we really do need to win this game.  Still, congrats to our D for carrying us to 5-3 in the first half of the season.

That Chicago loss was just awful. Hope it doesn't end up biting us in the ass.

But realistically, it really doesn't matter if we can't get this offense on track because we're not making any real noise in terms of being a true contender with the offense we're putting on the field right now.

I'd be very interested to see us utilize a speed package every once in a while. Throw Samuel, Klay, and shepard out there. Keep CMC in as the back or kick him to the slot.

Haven't seen much of those deep post routes we use to give Ginn. If we do send a guy on a 9, its funchess and he doesn't have the top end speed.

Honestly after the saints loss, I would have been happy with 3 and 2 in this stretch.  The loss in Chicago sucked but overall 5-3 with all the injuries to our stars, no running game, and no consistency in the passing game is better than it could be.

The defense just showed off against a good offense and our special teams was an actual advantage.

Hard to predict where we may go this year but we were 3-5 At this time last year.

Denver seemed to overcome that in 2015.

Agreed with this at least. Even if we win the South, we won't go deep in the playoff unless some serious adjustments are made.

    • Ohio State no. 8 won it all last year.  No. 6 Penn State and no. 7 Notre Dame advanced to the semi-final. This year no. 7 Ole Miss is going to win it all.
    • agreed.  Lack of games/opportunity makes him a non-factor in OROTY talk.  He is just now getting the stage where there is legit film on him.  Takes awhile to really see how guys react to all the different scenarios and to find the real weak spots on a QB's play in an O.
    • Oh boy how the tables have turned...the passion and extent at which you defend Shough would make even the staunchest Bryce fanboys blush.  The bold part is especially straight from their playbook.  Even if someone here were to withhold giving Shough props, it's pretty understandable as a Panthers fan.  What's quite odd is becoming the biggest stan of our most hated rival's starting QB.  I don't think even Saints fans drool over him this hard. For the record I think this talk about "stans" and "fanboys" is cringe AF and I'm admittedly being rather hyperbolic because this is exactly the kind of discourse and language you personally love to engage in and it's fun to play in the mud from time to time.  There is absolutely no world where you do not meet your own criteria of a "Super Stan" for Shough with how loosely you apply that label to people for Bryce in here.  You're like the Final Boss of Super Stans.
