Why is Igo butthurt over CMC?

I take a break from the Huddle for a couple weeks, then come back to see CMC getting blasted. One thread cherry-picks a failed CMC juke (still a four yard gain mind you), and then another thread is a passive-aggressive ex-girlfriend-esque post showing a nice play by Samuel, titled "Most impressive play by an offensive rookie this year."

Dude, you were posting all this CMC hype in the offseason, were super high on him, and now he is just "Rex Burkhead"? This guy is literally halfway through his rookie season. I figured the man running Carolina Huddle, est. 2003, would know better than to poo on a player this early in his career. So fickle.

I agree. I think all this hate is a bit much. Its his rookie effing season. Rookie season. Yeah, he needs to pack on some weight, that much is apparent. Put this kid with a competent staff and I think this would be a different conversation. The game hasnt slowed down for him yet, but it will. Jesus.

The Huddle is a form of "the media," and like so much of the media now, its financial success is, to a large degree, determined by click(bait). There's at least a part of the answer to your original question, probably a big part.

Well said OP...

CMC is our leading receiver.  He is constantly open, and not always targeted when he should be.  He plays under one of the worst OC to ever have a job in the NFL, and runs behind one of the most under-performing offensive lines in the league.  It's not like Stewart or Fozzy or CAP are lighting it up running the ball while CMC struggles.  EVERY SINGLE RB ON THIS TEAM IS STRUGGLING TO FIND SPACE...EVERY ONE.

Let's lay off the kid and give him a break.  He is busting his tail out there and always displays a positive attitude.  We have way more issues on offense than our first round draft pick, who happens to be leading the team in receptions and yards.

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
