Wake up Call

I attribute yesterday's performance to a few factors:

1.) Coming off a bye week - It just is what it is. In the past Rivera and staff have not prepared our team too well after a bye week.I think we've won the past two years but historically our team looks lethargic.

2.) Greg Olsen coming back - not fully healed, Ed Dickson has been on a roll. Hopefully next week things will be back to normal.

3.) Slightly looking past the Jets - this team doesn't handle success well. They perform when its a big game or when there is a sense of controversy. Panthers often play up to competition or down to competition. Mix in a predictably conservative approach to game-planning and it's going to be hard to get this team into a rhythm.

4.) Cam - thumb or no thumb. Can't have that kind of performance. But this is the PERFECT kind of game to have before the New Orleans Saints game. The media will undoubtedly get on him all week about his performance.

Hope this was a wake-up call. The next stretch of games is brutal.

1. Bullshit. Our team was prepared. To many mistakes on the offense, doesn't equate to not being prepared.

2. It's alright that Olsen was eased back. Would have been better if Cam at least played averaged.

3. Bullshit again. Our team has to much veteran leadership to look past any team. Do away with that lame ass fan perspective.

4. The only thing I could agree with you.

This was not a wake up call.  Thanks for your concern.

I agree.  Lots of spoiled fans on this board.  I read today that if we win the south this year, it would be 4 titles in 5 years.  I didn't think about it like that.  That is an amazing run we have had with these players and the coaching staff, as much as people do not want to give them credit for some reason.  It puts us in the top 4-5 franchises in the league.  Some folks have forgotten the late 90s and early 2000s as well as the 2009-2012 seasons.

1. Cam played like (insert name of your favorite third string backup here). Horrible accuracy. Questionable decisions. Going for broke into double coverage when again and again, CMC was wide open for a first down plus. On a good number of plays, it seemed like he wasn't covered just because the defense knew Cam wasn't going to even consider the check down.

2. Receiving corps overall didn't do much to help their struggling QB.

3. Entire secondary looked like scrubs over half the time they were on the field, and that was with solid play from the front seven, which is supposed to make jags look good.

4. Shula. Moments of brilliance wrapped up in multiple layers of lunacy.

PS...

Me. We missed the first play on offense. We gotta hit rewind.

Wife. Why? Stewart up the middle for a couple yards.

Me. Nah, Shula finally is starting to figure it out.

Wife. Okay, back it up.

Me.  Hits rewind, then play.

Both. ROFLMFAO.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
