I wish that I could say that I was confident that we'd beat the Vikings next week. I'm not. At all.

I’m not worried about the Vikings personnel wise-even if they kicked our ass last year the week of the riots we should have been up double digits at half, even after Oher went out.  Right now we’re still better on paper, and are at home.

What bothers me is the sense of destiny they have after being snake bitten their entire existence-then losing two 1st round QBs they invested in (Teddy and Sam), one of the best players in their history (Peterson), their top pick (Cook), their top 5 pick of 5 years ago (Kalil), their coach and his eye surgeries, etc., yet here they are with a home Super Bowl a possibility (after an INTENSE political battle for a new stadium-almost the LA Vikings).  Bizarre.

So the question is, do we still go after the division and root for Atlanta on Thursday? Or do we go for the wild card?

If your glass is half full and think we beat the Vikings you pull for ATL. If your glass is half empty you pull for the saints.

If your glass just need more whiskey, fill it up to the top then sit back and just let it all play out.

Translation: "I don't know football, I only watch Panthers"

Zimmer is one of the best HC in the league too, winning with no name QBs, he'll easily win the coaching matchup and his defense always matches up well to us...they don't miss tackles and they have speed everywhere.

The blatant disrespect of the Vikes, throughout the football world, is truly astounding. People just don't watch a lot of football.

Get real, no one eating turkey on Thanksgiving expected Case Keenum to look like Joe Montana as he did.

No disrespect to Zimmer but even Minnesota Nice Viking fans after their starters were waxed in the preseason by the 49ers were booing him-some even ready for a change from him and certainly Slick Rick Spielman.  Even some of the stars of their good but not historically great D have had injury or attitude issues.

I’ve watched some or all of their games vs the Saints, Bears, Browns, Lions (2nd game), and Falcons.

If anyone is a believer in history and all that, Rivera has this team going 75% wins for the time he's been in charge.

For me, the offense can only press a power rushing attack for the Tampa and GB games.  ATL and MIN will require a lot more short route plays to keep drives alive.  The defense may do enough to bail out the offense, but that would be a very tough road to hoe.

The Vikes have been playing very well, and they have a great defense and a QB who is executing the game plan extremely well.  I'm not counting this a W by a long shot.  The Panthers will have to get back to running the ball well and playing good defense, which is a very common NFL refrain.

When the Vikes kicked our butt last year, they shut down us down completely.  How will we overcome that this time?  Will Olsen be back?  I hope so because we need to be able to put pressure on their defense.  Do we have the ability to put pressure on anyone defensively if they shut down our running game?  That's going to be the issue going forward.

I'm hopeful we can get into the playoffs.  I don't think we can win the NFC South with the way the Saints are playing.  Going in as a 5 or 6 feels much better to me.  We've traditionally gone in as a high seed, maybe going in as a spoiler and running the table will be easier without the week off the 1 and 2 get?

We still need to get there.

No one is giving up by complaining about our inept coaching staff, ref screw jobs, and having no one to catch the ball or block. But after this game I have come to accept we are just not a great team right now. Good defense and Cam makes us a really good team, but there are a few great teams right now and we’re not one of them. If we make the playoffs, yay Ron and co. get to keep their jobs and nothing happens to get past our problems. We’re not beating the elite teams this year unless Cam and the defense play absolutely out of their minds. We’d have to get on a ridiculous hot streak and I don’t think Ron is capable of keeping a hot streak going. He’ll always try to drag it down to fit his 1980s football philosophy.

Vikings are a very good team.  Thielen, Diggs (who actually isn't having a great year but is still a really good wr), Rudolph, Murray, Mckinnon.    Rhodes will probably take Funchess out of the equation for the most part, so we'll need our WR2/3 need to step up, whoever that ends up being.  We'll need big games from Olsen and McCaffrey.
