They got the job because JR created it.

The job would have been there anyway. When the expansion happened there was multiple people from Charlotte wanting to own the team.  Richardson was just the best option.  Charlotte would have gotten the team even if Richardson wasn't involved.

That is right . That is the mentality of this fan base. Jerry brought a team to Carolina, which was going to happen without him anyway, so he gets a free pass to treat others like crap.

It isn't. Charlotte was a hot market back then. Hornets was selling out every game and Charlotte was growing big time. You had Richardson, George Shinn (before the scandals and backlash) and Bruton Smith all interested in bringing a NFL team to Charlotte.  You also had exhibition games in Clemson that sold out every year.  So it didn't matter who it was a NFL team was coming to Charlotte.

Fyi the other cities competing was St Louis,  Jacksonville, Birmingham and Nashville/Memphis. St louis was the biggest competitor with Charlotte 2nd.  People was surprised when st louisdidnt get a team.  it was Charlotte with a unanimous vote in the first round. Then a few days later Jacksonville was rewarded a team.

Of course the investigation is continuing. Do you really think lawyers (both for the Panthers and the league) are going to turn down all those billable hours? Lawyers are like the house in Vegas, no matter what happens, they win.*

The investigation should continue. Just like if this were the Saints or Falcons, we'd all be wanting the league to get to the bottom of this.

From what I've read, if the Panthers did not report the settlements to the league then that is a violation. This could get a lot worse before it gets better. NFL reporter Mike Freeman said he believes the four cases in the SI piece are just the tip of the iceberg, and from what he's heard from sources there are a lot more instances of misconduct against JR.

That said, I'd bet a million bitcoins that the Panthers are not the only team in the league to issue settlements without informing the league. The NFL should do a league-wide audit before levying any punishment down on the Panthers.

Been told the same thing by someone else.

Lots of folks think this could get really really ugly.
