Ryan Kalil is everything

Watching the coach's film of the Green Bay game. So clear that having Ryan Kalil is everything in terms of pass protection.

With Ryan Kalil in the game, Norwell is able to help Matt Kalil on 99% of the passing downs. This is the reason Matt plays so much better when his brother is on the field. Ryan allows for him to get a whole lot of help on the inside.

I couldn't believe all the fans that were calling for Ryan's head and saying he needed to be cut. The guy is a stud and was severely missed while out hurt. He will be hard to replace when he hangs em up.

I think it was more about us fans not knowing the truth. We still don't know what happened. I mean nobody believes  he just woke up with a crick in his neck that lasted half the season. Nevertheless, I'm happy Ryan is back but if there is a next time just be honest Ron!

And this is why a top rate center needs to be drafted and learn from Khalil now

despite what people think what we have on the roster are back ups

The question though is Larsen that bad or is Ryan just that good?

Because we were functional with him in there. There was plenty of room for improvement, but is he a potential serviceable starter, until we find our next great center, or is he a career backup?

Ryan is that good, Top 3 center in the NFL over the last 10 years.

To a degree yes but much easier to find a great center than left tackle

Kalil is an all time great Center, Gross was a very good LT....more than anything though, you got a solid, healthy player with Gross.

It is easier to replace a C, but it's going to be awfully hard to replace Kalil.

I'd like to spend a high round pick(2-3) on a center in this year's draft to let him learn under Ryan. If Ryan decides to play a couple more years, that would be a good trajectory for the rookie to take over at his retirement. NFL Center has to be one of the toughest positions to play mentally and physically. We want someone good to learn at his feet so to speak.

    • So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.
    • I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.
    • Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
