ugh Felix is going to be a partial owner of the Panthers and it makes me sick. they look to be the only legitimate buyers so far.

that thread posted earlier about "members of the Steelers ownership are upset," get ready to hear that constantly about the Panthers. we'll hear more from "members of the Panthers ownership" than from the actual majority owner.

Eddie Debartlo is the outside guy imo who would have a chance..

Yep - I would think the NFL would approve him easily also.

I wouldn't think the NFL feels like dealing with a large ownership group when it comes to addressing team issues and such. Wouldn't it be easier to just go to one guy instead of a committee of owners? I honestly don't know how these ownership groups would be set up at all though or how that all works so maybe that's not the case.

Gnatt made a point that the NFL might favor someone who can come in and cut the check himself as opposed to a group of say 10 people.

Is there anyone in the Carolinas that has an interest in owning an NFL team that could do that?

Not that I know of, but it's true that those sorts of people don't necessarily advertise themselves. I agree that when the bids come out they'll likely include names none of us recognize.

I would add that unless anybody knows of a billionaire in his early to mid-twenties who's native to the Carolinas, people will probably have to accept that our new majority owner  won't be someone who grew up a Panther fan.

But yes, business investments trump fandom, and nobody who's wealthy enough to buy into an NFL team is gonna let their fanhood cost them money.

So basically you have no clue how this stuff works.
