Potential Steal Alert

Found this at the bottom of an article which talks about teams needing a strong draft.  I was most certain we would be on it.

We weren't but the article mentions a potential steal alert and this gentleman's name has popped up on some of our mock draft lists.

Here's a name to remember: Notre Dame wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown. I recently completed my study of his game film, and I came away very intrigued.

He has outstanding size, quickness and route-running savvy. However, his production fell off this fall. He caught 58 balls and 9 touchdowns as a sophomore but he only hauled in 33 balls and 5 touchdowns this past season. After watching all of his targets from the 2017 season, the drop-off in production is easily explained. Yes, he has a couple drops, but the lack of accuracy at the quarterback position was the main reason for his disappointing numbers. He consistently created separation down the field, only to see the ball fly out of reach.

St. Brown has a complete tool set to be a quality starting NFL receiver. I think teams will see the same thing. I value him as a second-round player and he could end up being a steal in April.

I think the part I enjoyed the most was "consistently created separation down the field"

He has all you want in a WR with exception of speed.  It does mention quickness but not speed.

the big question if the panthers draft him and he doesn't pan out...is it his fault, or cam newton's.

We've talked about him before and my biggest concern is his frame. Dude has toothpick legs and I'm not sure if he can put on muscle there, you generally have it or you don't.

I'd be concerned he'd snap a leg every time he touched the ball and he has the potential to have quite a few leg injuries much like Darren McFadden did.

As someone who “missed” on McFadden, big time, I see the issue. But it is not nearly as concerning for a WR as it is a RB.

ESB is exactly who I targeted when looking for a WR in this draft . This is provided we add a speed option in FA, like a Paul Richardson. Funchess is on his final year and We need to consider that with any WR choice.

I don't disagree we need another WR to add to the stables, but I'm tempering my excitement for him. Paul Richardson was another guy who concerned me with his frame. It looks like he's missed time each year he's been in the league except last year, also missing all but one game in 2015. Richardson has talent, he's just so skinny he gets manhandled and injured often.

This guy sounds alright from the 4th round onwards. Great name. Not as good as his brother who just signed for USC though. Lets just wait 3 years and pick up Amon-Ra St Brown.

Yeah the youngest of the 3 boys is easily the best one and it's not really that close.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
