According to 247 Sports,  interest in Star has been reported by Tony Pauline.

"If the Carolina Panthers don’t re-sign Star Lotulelei, the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs are potential landing spots, as both teams have shown interest," Pauline reported Saturday.

I can't  find anything more,  but it's early still.

Both 3-4 defenses. If he can play like he did in 15-16 he can be an excellent NT.

Wish him the best.

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the interested parties.  His strength makes him a perfect candidate for a 3-4 NT.  Good luck to Star, But I don't see him getting paid his worth here.

Yep, I think he has more value to a 3-4 team than he does a 4-3. He's a pure space eater. That's what a 3-4 NT does. I try not to look at stats for 4-3 one techniques, but Star just doesn't make enough plays on the football for a 4-3 DT. He had 34 tackles as a rookie. He's had 33 in his last three seasons combined.

Yeah, Star is really great at holding his spot, not so much last season but I digress.

Star is not a penatrator. On the off chance he does he doesn't really have the ability to chase things down. Butler isn't as much of a space eater, but he can make plays in the back field consistently enough to justify starting. Love can take Star's role for much cheaper, and I'd say he's a better pass rusher than Star too.

People are going to be surprised how much we are going to miss star next year.

If you can signed him to a reasonable deal then I’m all for keeping Star. But I’m not sure if we can pay him 4yrs 40 Million. We just have to do the job of trying to replace him as a unit and not depend on one person to eat space.

Hurts me

i was so stoked when we got him. One of my favorite players.

And i know his worth to our defense which is a lot...

but considering our depth at that position and our limited $$$ rescources, its a parting we should take

plus Butler has a ton of potential to be really, really fuging good

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
