2016 draft now one of our worst drafts ever

What? How can anyone argue that this draft wasn't terrible? We only have 2 of 5 drafted still on the team. This was a major reason for the terrible "super bowl hangover". Draft was trash. We all saw last year in New Orleans how a draft can make or break your season.

i'd even argue that barner's career so far is pretty much what you'd expect from a 6th round pick

Definitely better than expected from a 6th rounder. Large large majority of 6th rounders are out of the league entirely within a couple years. Barner was a contributor for a SB team 5 years later. Only issue is he never fit in well here and we cut him. And frankly with Kugzilla we never had a chance to see how good he could've been due to injuries. Hard to blame a GM for that. Nobody can predict that bad luck. 2013 was a great draft. 2014 solid, the rest yet to be determined.

This guy was just waiting to bash Gettleman and praise Hurney. Not worse than hurneys infamous 2011 draft. Let's also remember it's kind of hard to screw up the number 1 overall pick. Hurney was also drafting at the beginning of rounds opposed to end like Gettleman.

1. Cam

3. Terrell McClain

3. Sione Fua

4. Brandon Hogan

5. Kealhoa Pilares

6. Lawrence Wilson

6. Zachary Williams

7. Lee Ziemba

the clown didn't even draft his franchise QB one weapon. But wait it gets worse. How about 2009?

2. Everette Brown-traded a future 1st

2. Sherrod Martin

3. Corvey Irvin

4. Mike Goodson

4. Tony Fiammetta

5. Duke Robinson

7. Captain Munnerlyn

keep pushing your agenda man, but just know you're wrong.

Can't just look at drafts in a vacuum. Cam was the weapon drafted in the first group, and he had Smith, Olsen, DWill and JStew to work with, among others. A lot of those guys were back filling of chart depth or taking a flier on a potential. Most didn't pan out at all, and that happens with about 75% of any team's draft picks.

2009? I got nothing here. Bad draft across the board for a team that had the wheels falling off. Must have been pre-emptive karma or the universe aligning us to be able to pick Cam in the future. Who knows? I mean, Captain Munnerlyn was our big hit there and well, errr.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
