Kind of ironic. We get Matt Kalil and...

You've already forgotten about the screams that meddling Jerry Richardson fired Gettleman because Thomas Davis and Greg Olsen ran to JR and told him that Gettleman was mean to them? This was paired with the argument that JR instructed DG to sign Matt Kalil because of his brother Ryan and "family atmosphere".

the assertion that JR is a meddling owner? yes. i mean you’d have to be pretty dense not to get that impression.

i don’t remember saying JR went up to Gettleman and gave him an ultimatum to sign Matt Kalil.

If we had offered him less, he would be playing somewhere else.  Maybe that is good maybe not.  Look at what Solder got.

QB

DE/OT

Are the the top 3 money making spots on a team.

All I’m going to say is, hold Kalil to the same standard you hold Cam. There was a year when Cam was struggling, and you wanted us to start Derek Anderson because “we knew what we had in Cam, so let’s see what DA can offer.” Well, we know and knew what we had in Kalil as he had struggled for 4 straight years before we brought him in. We should’ve went in a different direction, or at the very least, not offered him the contract we did. If he didn’t take it, oh well. Our GM would’ve just had to do his job and find us another LT. Kalil was ranked as one of the worst LT’s last year. We could’ve damn near plugged in anyone and achieved that.

If you didn't specifically say this I will man up and retract the claim. But I definitely know you were vocal about JR meddling. Regardless, the notion that JR essentially forced DG to sign Matt Kalil has been frequently used and I've even seen it within the last few weeks.

when did i say this?

Its TheRed he always pulls in random poo and posts other people say and act like its something you said or relevant to the current topic.

matt kalil could be playing at a high level in 8 months and you’ll move on to something else that gettleman did to bitch about, and you’ll forget you ever used his name as a synonym for horribad on a daily basis here.

That's what you put and what he responded to but somehow JR talking in Gettlemans ear is prevalent as a response lol....
Then goes on to ask you if you forgot about other peoples responses on something you two weren't even talking about...
He strawman/deflects because the above is true...I made a post in another thread it's funny to watch....

We're on topic A dood responds to Topic B that another poster posted, great stuff.

The Giants get Nate Solder.  How you like them apples?

The Giants owner allows their GM to hand out big time contracts to free agents other than their own and relatives of players already on the team.

if you think sexual harasser Jerry was allowing that contract to Russell okunng last year than you haven't been paying attention.

there’s like 1000 posters here making their own claims about the way everything goes down here.

last july, JR fired gettleman, and not even a day later there was an announcement that hurney was coming back. we all knew what this was about. it’s not about performance, it’s not bc gettleman whiffed on signing antoine cason in 2014 and JR just couldn’t get over it. it’s about JR wants his principles enforced by his executives and that’s what hurney does. gettleman defied that and was shown the door. if the panthers didn’t do so well in 2015 it could’ve happened sooner. in NY it’s a different story. if gettleman gets fired, it will be over performance, not bc the owner has a power trip.

I'm really hoping we can get a quality owner in here, but with JR helming the sale there's a strong possibility we could just end up with more of the same.

As far as Gettleman in NY, there's no qualms about it, that's a tough gig over there. If the Giants don't have a winning season this year, he's going to start feeling the heat quickly. Fair or not, that's the way it is, and it's been that way with that market for a long time. They finally ran off Tom Coughlin after two Super Bowl wins, and it seemed like every damn year he was there talk in some form that he could be on the way out was prevalent. Meanwhile he's helped the Jags build a formidable contender.

Actually, the main reason Gettleman is gone is due to his unwavering support for Mike Shula.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
