Panthers bringing in O-lineman for visit

Interior utility type guy. They might believe he's worked his way up to a shot at starting or maybe he's just good depth (probably the latter). Likely a better prospect than Banner, at least.

Where he played his college ball is a plus. Nebraska loves big, road grading linemen.

He has starting experience and is only 26--

Here is my philosophy on free agency, and I am thinking of making my own brand of NFL fortune cookies, with my bits of wisdom tucked within the somewhat stale, lightly-sweetened clam shell of wisdom.

If you pay full price for a brand name star, he usually underperforms the contract.  Some of that is due to the new system and team chemistry/supporting cast.

If you pay discount prices for people entering their primes who possess the skill set the position in your system needs, you often find bargains.

This guy could compete at LG.  Not the only move.

You will be told by a stranger something that will change your mock draft today.

I love bringing in this type of guy. Swing lineman with starting experience? Likely to add solid depth for cheap? About to hit his prime so still has room to improve? Yes please.

Think of how many OL we release that go on to have long careers with other teams--even pro bowl careers.  Evan Mathis, for example.  They mature later in life and play longer.  This guy has been improving each year---solid depth is the goal, but expect him to compete.

    • Been here a while but rarely post and most of them are smartazz. Mostly lurk just so I can sound informed while hanging out drinking beer in my neighbors garage. Amusingly a Huddle level of knowledge kind of makes you a subject matter expert. Thanks for that.
    • That’s similar as saying MVP Cam is the same as rookie Cam because his mechanics didn’t change. We’re talking about production.
    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
