rd #1- Best player available

rd #2- Best player available

rd #3- Best player available of position of need

rd #3b- Best player available of position of need

rd #4- Give up two 7th rounders  to move into 4th for Best player available of position on need

Next season- hope that two (wishful thinking 3) of these players are day one starters as well as hope for a couple

players from early rounds last year can see the field.

Here's my thoughts,

# 1 LG, The biggest loss of talent this offseason has been Norwell. Sirls is likely the lead candidate to start at this point but I don't think the team wants to bank on that.

# 2 WR, Current top 5 are Funchess,Smith, Wright,Samuel and Byrd. Funchess is a free agent next year and  it would be nice to be pro-active in the event he gets overpaid elsewhere. Even if Funchess is retained long term, this is not a strong looking bunch for right now or the future. Would love to see a drafted player challenge Funchess for the # 1 spot.

# 3 # 2 RB, I could have easily listed any position in the secondary here. However it looks like we have sufficiently replaced the 2 departing players (Worley and Coleman) with Cockrell and Searcy. It's not going to be an all star cast but we arguably have one of the top front 7's sitting in front of them to help balance out their shortcomings.

With Stewart gone, theres a big opening for someone to carry the rock. He led the team with 198 attempts.  Cam actually had more carries than Mccafrey last year (139 vs 117).  Mccaffrey only averaged 3.4 ypc last year, so I don't believe giving him more carries is a good idea. CAP only carried it 18 times last year so I doubt he's thought of as the answer.

1. I wouldn't spend higher than a 3rd round pick on a guard..

2. Bad WR draft .. Wouldn't take one until later rounds..

3. Deep RB draft a solid starter can be had in later rounds..

I think DE needs to be a big concern. Next year we have no Pep and Addison is on the wrong side of 30.

Since we signed Cockrell, I think we should look at S and OL in the 1st 2 rounds and DE and TE with the 2 picks in the 3rd. After that, RB, CB, LB, and WR/QB/OL for the Day 3 picks.

Not a good DE draft after Chubb and maybe Hubbard .. So unless we go Hubbard I can see them going with a development project after the 3rd..

I don’t think he’s depth. He’s the starter right now. I’d love to see a rookie play better because then we drafted a stud. Most rookie CBs don’t start right away. We aren’t drafting top 5/10.

The dude has never even started a game.  They said he looked good in a few plays, but thats a few plays.  Worley looked in a few plays.  He's as much as a unkown as a rookie.

CBs especially 1st rounders start right away about as often as any other position.  Look at last year.  And correct we arent picking top 5.  But if Josh Jackson is there, he is coming in and starting right away making a major impact

Norwell leaving left a huge hole on the left side, we’re still stuck with Kalil and then we have his brother who is retiring and more than likely won’t finish the season.

So what’s more important, shoring up your o-line so Cam doesn’t get killed this year or putting together a secondary capable of at least slowing down offenses like the Aints

It is incredible to consider how much disagreement we have---not sure if that is good or bad...

1. FS (Searcy and Adams to compete for SS duties)

2. LG (Sciles is not the answer)

3. TE (Olsen is 33 and was injured a bit in 2017-we don't even have a Dickson behind him)

4. RB (Do not discount Artis-Payne--he averaged 5.3 yards per carry in 2017 while playing behind Stew and his 3.4).

Great post.  Here is why:  You draft  a player for 4 years--most rookies do not step in and play at a high level.  So  when you draft in 2018, it is for 2019 or even 2020.  Take a look at the left side of the OL in 2020--

A new LT, a new LG, a new C.

I get that you need to draft with an eye on the future. But the restructure means Kalil is basically uncuttable for 2 years. Last year we drafted a 2nd rnd LT.  So a high pick is guaranteed to sit unless management do a 180 on incumbent players. C would sit for at least a year behind Kalil. We would also be saying we have zero faith in Larsen. Despite him being more impressive than the Ravens Jensen who just got a ridiculous contract in FA from the bucs. LG i get but its the easiest position to make do with. I mean Norwell himself was a UDFA.
