WCNC: Four Main Bidders - Not Three - In Play For Panthers Ownership

WCNC just said on TV that there are four main bidders for the ownership that are all in play. Currently, the three main ones known are Tepper, Kestenbaum, and Navorro.

However, it appears there's another name in play who's staying under the radar. They didn't specify who exactly this particular guy is.

Food for thought.

Not gonna be Rubin because he's known.

James Goodnight was said to be "interested" but nothing more was ever said of it.

And no, it's not Michael Jordan :eyeroll:

(it's not Diddy, either)

Newton seems to confirm the fourth bidder exists...

A lot of misinformation was flying around the sale of the Panthers on Monday. Here’s what we know. A source close to the situation told ESPN that David Tepper, a minority owner with the Pittsburgh Steelers and hedge fund billionaire, remains a part of the process as do Charleston, South Carolina, billionaire Ben Navarro, Alan Kestenbaum and one unnamed candidate. Tepper contacted two news outlets to deny a report that he was out. "I have to tell you, for me, I like the people down there,” Tepper told the Charlotte Observer. “They remind me of my original hometown, Pittsburgh. The only thing I’m telling you is I haven’t dropped out,’’

For the folks looking to keep up on the sale, obviously I recommend following the usual sources like Person, Rodrigue and Newton, but here are a few other sources that have had good information on the process.

Katie Peralta - Observer Business Reporter

Rick Rothacker - Observer Business Reporter

Jonathan Jones - Former Observer writer now with Sports Illustrated

Albert Breer - Monday Morning Quarterback contributor (in my opinion, the best national source)

Ken Belson - New York Times writer who's been covering the team sale

    • Imagine the people who spent time on this, and what they could've been doing to help kids in that part of Miami / the country.  I continued to (not) be shocked at how stupid humans are.
    • Thank god he was brought to justice for these horrible crimes.
    • Overall report- Kon had 3 poor quarters and one stud one. He at least tried to run the offense and had good passing, he should have had more asst if not for poor players. Most of the rebs fell in his lap. 3 3s carried him to 2nd in scoring and one of them was a deep shot and the guy was in his face.  Kalk looked the part and maybe maybe should add few minutes of play in season. He seemed to realize spacing and blocks. Simpson was the temu on special Curry. Just the best player on the court and has been each game for the hornets. Im team 16 Hall this game, he would be the 2nd best player on dallas if he played for them this game. Mu god they were bad outside #9.    Holy fug Flagg, Liam, and James DNPs. fuging already got the NBA touch, what a joke. Cut everyone's pay since its impossible to play 35 minutes as a healthy 19 year old. Load mange dez nuts.
