While we are on the topic of due diligence with receivers, Carolina WR coach Lance Taylor flew into Penn State’s Pro day a day early to meet with WR Daesean Hamilton, and worked him out at the pro day. Hamilton checks every box CAR needs at receiver and would be around R2-3.

Dudes projected as a round 4-5 guy.

Maybe a option if he falls into the 5th

Lol not a chance.

Hamilton isn’t the most flashy guy but he’s a good WR. Knows how to play the position. He’s someone I really want.

No problem with picking him in the 2nd

This is true. Hamilton and Fountain (whom we also had a meeting with at the SB) were rated round 5 and UFA respectively and unless I missed something didn’t rock the combine. I like them both but don’t want them so bad that we should overdraft them.

Exactly. He's not a hyped guy by the media so if we do take him at #55 this board will explode with negativity. But if you really study the players in this draft you will know this guy is a good player.

The media guys are generally pretty good at predicting 1st round guys and to a degree 2nd round guys, but once it gets into the mid-rounds it’s a crap shoot. Probably in no small part due to grades on those guys varying significantly team to team due to scheme and exactly what they’re looking for.

Part of me thinks they aren’t  going to resign Funchess... All of me thinks Matt Ryan wears braided belts.-

What gives you that impression?

The Panthers always make terrible offseason decisions, so you can expect a massive extension for Devin.

    • I disagree about the talent not making a difference. Last season, Bryce completed 77.4% of his passes to Theilen. He only completed 58.3% to Legette. The only difference is one is a better receiver / route runner than the other.
    • I get it,  but you then choose to compare that to other QBs…who largely attack the pass game vastly different than Bryce.   So you got to talk beyond the stat while having the convo.   Bryce should have a high completion % given the way he attacks field vs how a young Cam did or a Jake.   Always going to the but the talent! ….does’t work at this point.   Bryce’s is very low and his bad throw % is also crazy high  Bryce shouldn’t be a 60% QB and he should have low turnover % given he isn’t aggressively attacking downfield and doesn’t generate a lot of production. Bryce if he plays his style of ball well would have a very high comp% and low turnovers (that’s what he is supposed to be and isn’t).  Gunslingers, big play guys….should have a lower comp % and more turnovers than Bryce.
