Mike Wallace is over 250lbs. Glad we skipped.

Wait... the tweet you posted said “If” he weighs 250 not that he did. Or are you leaving out the fact he ended up failing to get the bonus as well?

Well either they put that there for a reason, or it's just a creative cap trick.

This time last year the Panthers were trotting out a 300 pound wide receiver so uh

Yeah someone read this wrong. He isn’t 250 lbs. he is listed at 200. The contract says he must be under. 250 lbs. to get the bonus. Basically it’s there So he can get an easy bonus because it’s very hard to gain 50 pounds in a offseason. Also bonuses count against the cap differently so it’s possible it was written in to help save cap room.

It seems weird for them to write in a conditional guarantee like that if there was no cause for concern. Is that common practice? Does CMC, Byrd, Munnerlyn, etc. likely have something similar written into their contracts?

I mean I get that there needs to be some incentive to keep these guys in shape during the off-season, but even so, 250 pounds seems like an awfully high bar for Mike Wallace. Plus, if this is common practice, why is Adam Schefter tweeting about it like it’s newsworthy?

It was specifically arranged to get him some extra cash that works around the cap. Basically something that was agreed upon only because the weight was so preposterously high

    • If it’s all the same to you guys, I’d like to use this thread for Tuesday nights game as well to keep this hate going. I have a feeling Tuesday vs the panthers is going to be violent in that arena.    @LinvilleGorgecan you please add “and Tuesday” to the game thread?  They play the Panthers again Tuesday. Thank you sir!
    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
