Panthers told Jackson he would get work at nickel and also outside.

Last year I disinctly remember someone asking Jourdan Rodrigue about Corn playing the NB and she said the Panthers viewed him as both an inside and outside player. Also Hurney didn't draft Corn and he hasn't played a down in the NFL we have no idea what we have in him.

Jackson has speed and talent. He can put on 15 lbs and work on his hands. I love the pick. I would have loved Oliver as well

This is what happens when you have a new gm, sometimes he drafts over a position to bring in a guy that he likes better. If Hurney is replaced next year this same thing COULD happen again

New GM? ......he is the same guy that we had before. Nothing new about him. We have been there and done this before.

This was a great pick. Why did Munnerlyn not play all that much?  He is 5'9" and ran a 4.5 40 years ago. Jackson is taller, bigger and blazing fast. We actually have our next shut down slot corner who can play outside if their speed guy goes outside. This is a great pick. He doesn't have to play day 1 but will start at sometime this season. Versatility and speed. I don't get the negativity.

Surprising that every one of you are conveniently overlooking the “and also outside” comment.

This DB is versatile....he can play inside and outside.  Very helpful in creating matchups.

I am baffled people hate this pick so much. I can only imagine what would have happened if we had taken a LB

After what Julio did to Bene, not one of you should bitch about a speedy DB.

Speed had nothing to do with that beatdown.. He couldn't even press him at the line.. Julio overpowered , jumped over, and ran by everybody that day...

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
