Now we know who went where, what picks should we have made?

Now we have hindsight to kind of guide us here

My personal preference would have been:

  1. Ridley- He was my favorite player for us. Same position as Moore and they chose him over Ridley. They are the pro's so we shall see what happens.
  2. Personally I would have traded up for Harold Landry or Josh Jackson. Similar trades were made packaging 2nd and a 3rd to move to get them. For the sake of this exercise I'll take away the trade possibilty and go with Isiah OIiver. So again same position and the experts took their preference.
  3. Ronnie Harrison would have been my choice. Theme continues of same position different player taken. (Yes I know Gaulden played Corner in college, but now he's going to be a safety)
  4. Nyheim Hines RB. Would have been a great compliment to McCaffrey. Plus I just don't trust CAP.

Side note: Never ever could have imagined we'd have our choice of top receiver, Mike Hughes/Josh Jackson but  4 interior O-lineman would be gone already plsu 5 more before our pick in round 2! I also would have thought at least one of these backs would have been there in round 2 for us: Penny,Michel,Jones, Chubb or Johnson. And one of them would have been my preference.

DJ Moore, Justin Reid , and Ronnie Harrison wouldve been extremely impressive. If cockrell was even servicable at CB and Bradberry somewhat improved from last year, wed have very excellent safteys behind them.

But that was impossible because the Panthers dont give a flying fug about saftey. Sure we drafted Gaulden but hes converting over from nickle lol. You have to leave it up to hurney to consitently pass on the sure thing for loads of "potential"

Could have had them and Oliver/Jackson also by simply using next year’s 3rd to move up and get Reid. Instead we get a project and a nickel CB.

The only change for me would be Ronnie Harrison instead of Gaulden, but I admit I haven't seen enough games of Gaulden to form a concrete opinion. For those that liked Isaiah Oliver, look at his and Worley's measurements and pro day results (similar height, weight, arm length, speed, vertical, etc.) I'm not saying Oliver is bad, but he can't cover Nelson Agholor, Ted Ginn, Kamara, or Robby Anderson.

The Gaulden pick was a head scratcher, but with him, Jackson, Smith and Norton being picked I see that they wanted to target aggressive, chippy, emotional players for a defense that was lacking that

Edit: Looking back at the Gaulden pick, I know they saw that the safeties that were left were stiff and weren’t rangy guys who could roam. We don’t play with a true high safety and move ours around a lot. So getting a guy who has made plays all over the field, sure tackler and not a real center field player might be what we needed.

1. Calvin Ridley- preferred him over Moore. But I can live with Moore. I’ll trust Smitty and Norv’s judgement over mine. I just hope he can stick on the outside. We don’t need anymore slot receivers.

2. Isaiah Oliver- Jackson might turn out to be the real deal but everything points to him being too undersized and a slot CB. Oliver can play the outside where we need a starter opposite Bradberry. This roster is full of nicklebacks. Carlton Davis is another option here. Guice is also intriguing.

3. Arden Key- This far down he’s worth the risk. The potential is there and he can be a situational DE until he fills out his frame again while learning from Pep.

3. Ronnie Harrison- too much value to pass up. Big in the box safety that can learn under the tutelage of Mike Adams and be ready to take over for next season. Ian Thomas or Christoper Herndon are also options.

OR

Trade both 3rd round picks and move up to draft Justin Reid. Rangy all around FS to fill the void left when we cut Coleman.
