Our running game going into next season, better or worst?

Take away Cam and we had the 31st ranked rushing attack in the league, now that the draft and major free agency is over what is your confidence level in our rushing attack going into next season?

We lost Norwell, we didn’t add a single guard or rb of note (even though this class was stacked), Kalil is on his last lag, I don’t believe Mccaffrey nor any RB in our roster is true feature back and to top it off I think Cam will have to carry the load again.

On the brightside, our receivers are better which should open up things a tiny bit more, and Stewart who is a fullback at this point was a complete waste of down last season, so I think whoever takes his carries will be better. And maybe this forces Ron to turn us into a pass first team, which in today’s nfl is the smart thing to do.

I'm with sanjay's alter-ego on this one @Ace_Aladdin. I'm actually really excited about a CAP/CMC combination with a fit Samuel and Moore to fit into the screen game. If we manage to use the short passing and run game to develop deep plays - if could very efficient. Also think Moton has the potential to make us forget about Norwell quite quickly.

Tough to make this call in April when there are still several more than serviceable RBs available.

Agreed.

1st of all CAP will have his opportunity to take the reins from Stewart.  I also think Armah might have a bigger role.  Probably fill the role Tolbert had when he was with SD.

Though the draft may have had decent players available I think we addressed our more pressing needs especially our first 4 picks.

I have been looking for a RB in the free agency market and RoaringRiot has hit it on the head. Orleans Barkwa looks to be perfect for us. In the next couple of weeks after signing him won't hurt our comp picks next year this would be a good fit.

    • I mean, he's a professional athlete.  What you think as a fan vs what he should think as a player are completely different.  Being bad doesn't mean you should lack confidence in yourself, and really that is true in all forms of life.  Do everything you want to do with confidence. Justin Fields sucks, but does he ever play like someone who doesn't believe in his own abilities?   Obviously you need more than confidence to be a high-level NFL player, and Bryce will never be that.  But he could still create 2-3 extra plays a game if he allowed himself to play more "free" like he did in the second half of last season.  The fact he refuses to use his legs to pick up yards nowadays hurts this team.  Simple things like that would go a long way for us, even if not for him.
    • I've always thought it odd that the QB is the only guy in the roster who carries a record. If a RB puts up 1200 yards but the team sucks then everyone still says the RB had a good year. If a QB puts up good numbers put the D is atrocious and the win loss record isn't great due to that then the narrative is that the QB can't win. Now that we're finding a way to win with suddenly dominant D and dominate running game people are trying to shift to this "Bryce is just a winner" narrative while he puts up bottom of the league numbers while near the top of the league in turnovers. It's just funny to watch.
