Breeland visiting other teams

I wish him the best of luck elsewhere and do wish he would've been here initially. However, he f'd up withholding that info about his injury, so he is a free agent and I don't have a lot of remorse for his status...he will get signed once he's healthy. Also not a fan of his attitude on twitter as if the teams (Carolina) are giving him a chip on his shoulder as if it wasn't his fault that he's in the situation he is in.

Two sides of the coin....

1. - I doubt we sign a DT like Poe if we sign Breeland. I think Cockrell + Poe > Breeland + some rando free agent DT.

2. - If we did sign Breeland, I doubt we go Jackson in R2. Probably could've went with Reid or Guice in R2 and held off on CB until later.... so his injury definitely affected our Draft, along with our FA spending.

Defensive tackle wasn't a necessity. You'll all find out come game one. BTW Breeland is much better than Jackson so that isn't even a comparison. Proven vet versus undersized nickel corner.

Yeah let's go into the season with Butler who stays hurt and does nothing. Man your so negative and I'm starting to think the dumbest poster on here.

I want him back, def a upgrade

Cockrell is an upgrade...esp over Worley. No question. Apparently, we beat out the Giants and Vikings in signing him.

Dunno how much stock to put into pff ratings.... but per last season Breeland was the 54th ranked CB in the league while Ross was the 39th. He also finished the year "first in Football Outsiders’ success rate, which measures cornerbacks on their ability to consistently stop opposing wideouts short of the sticks".

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Broncos part ways with a CB on the roster bubble Broncos get: 2026 seventh-round pick Panthers get: CB Damarri Mathis The Broncos have a rare problem among NFL teams: too many cornerbacks. ESPN's Jeff Legwold projects they could move on from Mathis, who was very good as a rookie in 2022 before losing his starting job after the defense's slow start in 2023. He played just 27 defensive snaps after Week 6 that season and 80 more across 10 games in 2024. With the Broncos using their 2025 first-round pick on cornerback Jahdae Barron, they could justify moving on from Mathis, who might not be active on game days even if he sticks around. Mathis' best season came with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in Denver, and he hasn't been able to reach those same heights since Evero left for Carolina. The Panthers are set with Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson and nickel corner Chau Smith-Wade as their three starting corners, but Mathis could push the 28-year-old Jackson and serve as Carolina's primary reserve on the outside. Mathis is owed $3.4 million in 2025, so Denver might essentially buy a draft pick by eating some of that cash, similar to what the Commanders did when they sent running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.
    • They can get fuged for a 6th and 7th. Doesn't make sense for us for anything less than a 4th and them paying a majority of his salary.
