Casserly: Expect quicker passes under Turner

Im sick of hearing about Cam and his so called accuracy problems. The truth is Cam has had little room for error with the bad receivers routes, play design, and play calling. Also the drop rate and separation. Cam have to nearly throw a perfect pass every time because the window is so tight. I have seen him throw some balls that other great QBs can't. And every game I watch I see QBs over throwing the receivers.

Cam doesn't see an open receiver occasionally. Literally all of the NFL QBs I've seen in games live do. These include Cam, Delhomme, Big Ben, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Russel Wilson, to name a few. Cam rarely has a quick, wide open option. When he does, he hits it with accuracy more often than not. Turner will make that more common place.

Quick Cam get the ball out while Matt does his very own impersonation of a turnstile and Mr.Magoo calling the plays!

Have long said that Cam's accuracy is about the same as Brett Favre. Sometimes it's pinpoint accurate. Sometimes it's general vicinity accurate. And sometimes it's "what the #@$& were you throwing at?"

Favre won games like that, so no big deal. Heck, lots of QBs have, including Delhomme.

Truth be told, there aren't as many pinpoint accurate throwers in the league as some might think. Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are the guys I can think of off the top of my head. Most others are okay to decent to meh.

I know everybody wants a hyper accurate QB, but there really aren't all that many of them. And if you build the team around them properly, you don't absolutely have to have one to win games.

The problem with Cam's "general vicinity" accuracy is while technically catchable, his routine lack of touch makes those much more difficult catches than most other QBs in the league. So many people on here like to make fun of Wilson's alley oop style throws but they allow his receiver to adjust to the ball and is easier to catch if you don't get your hands on it perfectly. Those laser throws are impressive to see but leave far less room for error for both the QB and the receiver.

Getting the ball out quicker was one of the first things Turner mentioned after he was hired.

Whether it is for shorter passes or for just making quicker decisions in my opinion is my take is for quicker decisions.  As far as accuracy I don't think it will be a major issue.  Cam was pretty accurate on quick slants and we all have seen him put balls through the tiniest windows.

I think he'll do fine.

Long passes or short, Turner has already gone on record as stating that he wants Cam making faster decisions and not holding onto the ball so long.

We can expect that'll be an emphasis in training camp.

This will be the key to a SB run.

Am I the only one who is a little confused on what to expect exactly?

On one hand we hear about Norv wanting to pound the ball and take deep shots...and now we are hearing that we should expect quicker passes this year?

The media, who sees low completion percentage stat, assumes he has accuracy issues. Not dropped passes in the chest or bad routes ran that are either the receiver's fault or a product of bad play calling. Pretty sure under Chud, Cam's completion percentage was higher.
