Daryl Williams just injured his knee...it's bad

Panthers RT Daryl Williams was carted off the field Saturday.

Williams was said to go down in a tremendous amount of pain and immediately surrounded by teammates. Williams, 26 in August, has developed into one of the top tackles in the league and was sure to command a premium five-year deal from the Panthers with this upcoming season being his contract year. Time will tell on his status, but Carolina could be without both him and Andrew Norwell, who signed a $66.5 million deal with the Jaguars this offseason, on the right side of the trenches.

Jesus Christ. This one is tough. Hopefully is not as bad as being let on. Hurney needs to get a tackle. We're thin.

Bad thing though is that anybody who isn't already on a roster by this point probably doesn't help you much.

If you want to get somebody that's quality, about the only option is a trade, and you have to give up something reasonably valuable to get a good one.

I'd say it's more likely they just go with Taylor Moton at this point. Yeah tackle is thin, but these days that's probably true of nearly every team across the league.

When a big dude goes down with a knee injury and literally starts screaming, it's not *always* an ACL tear, but it does seem like it usually is.

A torn meniscus could be the situation, too. That hurts like nothing else (tore mine a year and a half ago), but it is something that is easier to come back from than an ACL injury. I hope the prognosis is even lighter than that, but big guys still have the same size knees as the little ones.

Sending up a prayer he recovers fully, but I wouldn't expect him back in the first half of the season if at all, unless this is just a bad sprain.

Somebody is going to get an opportunity here and I hope they can make the most of it.
