The problem with that comparison is Smith isn't anywhere near the technician that Cotchery was. Torrey Smith has only been known for one thing his entire career and that is his ability to get downfield.

Olsen is Cam's most reliable target and one he trusts. Funch had a good game but like I said before he is streaky. Overall I agree and it's a good thing for Cam to have options.

Smith on the other hand, is not looking great.  Wright and Samuel may end up duking it out for # 2.

Moton looked really good against a terrible d-line. Kahlil looked terrible against a great d-line in Miami. It's an apples to oranges comparison. I think we need to see more out of Moton before we crown him as an All-Pro left tackle.

Samuel, who missed chunks of last season and iirc all of last preseason, has been getting playing time with both the 1s and 2s, Ron has spoke highly of him since mini-camps, and he continues to back it up and be a favorite target of every QB that's thrown to him this preseason.

Yet because Torrey is currently getting more snaps (mostly with the 1s) everyone thinks he's just gonna be riding the pine.

Oh, I agree. It's way too early to crown anyone. Still, it was one of the better LT performances in a while here (I'd disagree that the Pats have a terrible D-line) and it's hard not to celebrate just a little.

Point proved, my ass! How much you want to bet that Funchess is the third option at wide receiver? If by the end of the year, Cam attempts to throw to Funchess as the third option at WR, how about we bet a year's ban off the Huddle?
