Stellar move by the Jets. They signed the guy off the street and a few months later they flip him for a 3rd. A+ move.

Exactly. Why didn't the Saints just sign Teddy when he was a free agent a few months ago?  They signed Tom Savage instead, now they'll probably release.

This. He's mediocre and he's suffered an unbelievably severe knee injury since then.

He was actually on the verge to become the next big thing prior to the injury.  Has come back and actually looked better than many of the leagues starters in preseason thus far

28-38 316 yards 2TDs 1int

I actually like Teddy but @saints4lifeagain this was a terrible move and you can see in my past posts here about Teddy that I would say the same thing if it was us trading for him so there's no bias here...

My thoughts:

-Traded a 3rd rounder for a guy you could've had in free agency this year (and you're already short picks)...

-Added $6M salary for a backup QB this year... if Brees goes down you're screwed anyways.

-Teddy was never really that great before he got hurt let alone after a career threatening injury... sure he's looked decent in preseason but that's no real indicator.

-He's on a one year deal and wants to start so unless Brees is gone after this year he's not re-signing with you guys, and if Brees is gone after this year you have a big chunk of money tied up in a QB who won't be playing in 2019.

Saints did the same thing with Peterson and yall laughed because it was such a "terrible move" by them lol.

For years it's been yall will be terrible when Drew retires. Finally have a replacement and it was a bad move too lol.

That's the narrative, but go back and look at his numbers as a starter. That narrative is inaccurate. He's a mediocre dink amd dunk game manager. He never threw for more than 14 TDs in a season.

Bridgewater is probably good enough to win if you put a very good team around him.  MIght be hard to  do that giving up a first and a third though.  I suppose we will see one day (maybe).

Or maybe Brees is secretly injured, and they feel they need a good replacement pronto.  ;)

The dude is 39 years old and hasn't been using voodoo supplements like Brady has. It's entirely possible that we finally see a huge dropoff from him this year that leads to him retiring after the season. That's how things used to go as recently as 2015 with Peyton Manning in a game I'll spare you the details of. He's had shoulder issues, foot issues, at least a couple of concussions...he does not have long left.

Its official.  I will never take the salary cap seriously again.  I will never let anyone use the excuse "we dont have cap room" when we need to sign a player.

According to spotrac, the Saints have 550k in salary room on their top 51.  Negative 20 mil for all (obviously cuts will be made still).  And they regularly turn around and sign more players to 5m+ /year contracts.

Hmm.... let's think about this...

Aints sign Peterson for $2.5M cap hit then trade him for conditional 6th rounder...

vs.

Jets sign Bridgewater for $0.5M cap hit then trade him for 3rd rounder...

"same thing"
