Eric Washington: Something to think about

Eric Washington isn't going to get fired because DJ Moore gave the Redskins 10 points.

Defense is terrible overall.  Even today we had zero pressure and redskins controlled the game clock all 4 quarters.  Offense only had 3 drives in 2nd half cause defense could not stop anyone.

Huddlers didn't like the aggressiveness of Wilkos, but the blitzing is what masked our below average front 4 and secondary.  This D is giving me flashbacks of those Ron Meeks defenses.

Bend but don’t break.  Allow teams to control the clock, march down the field but prevent big plays and hold to field goal...  unfortunately, teams been executing at will against us in red zone this year.  The defense has been a huge failure.

It's been said several times now that our division rivals have figured out Rivera's defense and they know how to beat it.

Reasonable to believe that if our division rivals have figured it out, other teams have or will as well.

Curious how many believe it's true that our rivals have Rivera's number...

I can’t wrap my head around how 2 defensive coaches from the same tree have such different defensive philosophies. 1 blitzed all the time and the other acts like it isn’t allowed in the NFL. How hard is it to find a nice happy medium?

I couldn't have said it better Moore or whoever else fumbles doesn't mean never stopping their offense.

I'm concerned as well Sean Payton might have spread the answers to Ron's defense around because whoever we play handles us each week since Dallas

Would he need to?

If you're doing something that isn't working, but you just keep doing it and refused to adjust, word gets around on its own. I think that's the sad truth of our defense right now.

On offense, the Giants did a pretty good job of shutting down our run in the latter part of the game. Then come this week, the Redskins are controlling it from the get-go.

I don't think that's an accident.

I do believe teams have figured out that we can't beat them deep. The run game in a Coryell offense is heavily predicated on having a deep threat. Right now, we don't seem to have that element to our offense.

Could be Torrey Smith, could be Newton's shoulder, could be lack of playing time for Curtis Samuel, could be a combination of those things or all of those things and more.

Whatever it is, coaches need to figure it out and do whatever they can to fix it.

I think they just figured out Rivera period. His obsession with control makes him easy picking for other coaches.
