If Gano makes that 50-yarder against Denver in 2016...

... and Seattle hands the ball off to Lynch at the end of Super Bowl 49, then the Panthers would currently be on a 4-year streak of beating the defending Super Bowl champions on the road.  It doesn't mean anything since those two things didn't happen, but the Panthers do historically play well in games against defending Super Bowl champions.

This is a weird thread.

Probably is.  But, it dawned on me that we've beaten the champs on the road 2 years in a row, which is a pretty big accomplishment.  And, we were just a few feet away from doing it 3 years in a row and also a play away from doing it 4 years in a row.  I can't imagine there's been many teams at any point in time that could say that.

Insert your favorite "ifs and buts" phrase now, and I get that.  All the games involved were close games and could have gone the other way, so if we play those games again we could easily win the ones we didn't and lose the ones we did.  Still, it does say something about the moxie of this team that we've played well in those environments for 4 years running now.

He converted all 13 of his field goal tries with a 100% conversion rate that led all FBS kickers with at least 12 attempts. Fitzgerald was also perfect on his 14 extra points. He will compete with Matthew Wright for the Panthers’ kicking job in training camp. Harrison-Hunte went undrafted despite a strong showing at the Combine. He’s an older prospect who will turn 25 by the start of his rookie year, but he had just one season of sustained production at SMU after five years at Miami. Still, he earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2024 with 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks and will push for a roster spot in Carolina as an athletic interior disruptor.   more at the link https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/05/panthers-sign-19-undrafted-free-agents
