Going for two was the right call.

Gano has been awful all day. Barely made his first kick and then missed two from about PAT range. Losing a game on a blocked or missed PAT would be a real possibility. In comparison, with a two-point conversion you take the lead you should have had already and put the other team on notice. Do you trust Gano at that point or Cam?

Cam threw a bad pass, but it was the right call

Thanks for your input, Mrs. Rivera.

Yup, there was another play earlier where they dropped everyone into coverage in the redzone and Cam had the whole left side open to scramble, but nothing came open and he ended uo getting sacked, which led to Gano's missed FG.

And, yet again, the closest Cam came to getting hurt was in the pocket (along with the NFL refs allowing "anything goes" against him again).

Yup...  on a hit below the knees after the ball was already out.  If that had been Ben, they would throw the flag and then allow his teammates to mush our guys in the face and start a riot.  But, it was Cam, so it was cool.

The percentages say a 2pt is a 50/50 proposition, EP is over 90%.

Here's where it doesn't make sense. Even if you make it, Detroit had 3 timeouts to get into field goal range with a kicker who owns the record for longest field goal made and had already hit a 50+ field goal. Saying if we get the two we win implies a belief you're defense will get the stop. It's almost like Ron hasn't watched his defense the last two games and still thinks they are elite rather than middle of the road.

Based on the performance of the defense against Detroit, I had zero confidence that we would stop them from getting into field goal range regardless if we were tied or up one.

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
