Protecting Cam Newton

Ugh just remembered a couple years back when Cam played an absolutely meaningless last couple of games WITH  torn shoulder that they KNEW would need either time to heal or surgery.

Also don't forget this coaching and medical staff also decided it had a chance to "heal on its own" with rehab rather than going in and fixing it the day after the season ended.  How long did they wait?  Two months, I think?

He's done it before when his job was less in jeopardy than it is now.  Of course, that bastard will ruin Cam then be gone like "not my problem now bitches".

Good guy but terrible head coach.  I used to like the man now I despise seeing his face.

Yep, I want to say he had surgery at the end of March.

I hope that the doctors and training staff stand up and say "No.  You'll make it worse."  I hope that it's not already too late and the damage is permanent.  It would be inexcusable to ruin your franchise quarterback when he is finally turning the corner in the pocket.

This franchise has a huge problem going forward if a few hits knock a 29 year old qb out of commission in "the first season he entered healthy" in two years or w/e

Didn't think it was possible for posts to read monotone in my head but you've proven me wrong. Same song and dance on every thread. Lmao at "a few hits". Haters work hard af at deluding themselves.

I'm gonna say that cams shoulder has hurt him all year, But recently his planting foot and leg are also hurting him.  When you add bad mechanics caused by injured leg with bum shoulder, you get what you got yesterday (which was the worst game of his career).  Cam needs to be shut down the rest of the year, this season is toast and there is no salvaging it.  Even if we get to 10-6 (miracle) we don't have the  tie breakers to even get into the playoffs so yea, this season is 100% toast.

That said, going back to my original point, I think back to the Injury against Detroit (a late shot at the legs that the refs magically missed....one day he'll be old enough to get that call) and then when he got banged up last week against the seahawks in the second half (I've been looking online to find video, but I cant find it if anyone sees it).  Yesterday, Cam was off his back foot all day long, and he looked tentative stepping into throws.  I personally think either his knee or ankle got really effed up against Detroit, then re-aggravated against Seattle and now we're living with the consequences of a combination of both bum shoulder and ankle/knee.  Ron will find a spot to land somewhere, but we have a life after his ass gets canned to think about.  It's time that Tepp and or Hurney over-ride him trying to save his job and do what needs to be done.

    • More praise of Renfrow from Tim Weaver (formerly of USA Today's Panthers Wire, now SI.com), and also what I told some of you, my Huddle friends, from the start: keep it all in perspective, and don't conveniently---and perhaps unfairly, discount and label Renfrow as a JAG when it was a very debilitating illness affecting his play.    "It's understandable to be skeptical about Renfrow's abilities at this late point in his career. After all, he missed all of last season due to a bout of ulcerative colitis that also took a serious toll on his production in 2022 and 2023."   When Renfrow is healthy, he's an above average guy. Being 29 may hurt or help his chances depending upon perspective, but 29 for receivers generally means that there's still (sometimes plenty) gas in the tank. Renfrow also obviously has plenty of motivation and has come with his game face.   "Then agan, seeing is believing and by all accounts Renfrow has been very impressive since joining the Panthers a few months ago... Where Renfrow will fit in Carolina's new-look receiver corps remains to be seen, but at this rate it's going to be hard to exclude him from the initial 53-man roster." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/hunter-renfrow-sick-route-panthers-training-camp Read the room, ladies and gentlemen. And don't get it twisted; Renfrow isn't the most talented receiver on the team, but we have seen his ceiling, when healthy, in a Raiders offense that wasn't necessary replete with talent. Consider what he can do, especially in the slot, in a Panthers offense primed with young talent (no pun intended). From sick to "sick routes," eh?
    • That is literally what I am talking about. Those were 53 man cuts. Not at the beginning of camp.  I would say the odds of Barno being back are extremely thin.
