I read the question as guys who "lit it up" their rookie season. Bledsoe started basically the whole season Brady's rookie year.

Didn’t play as a rookie

Fair enough, but I'm not especially concerned about guys lighting it up as rookies.  Plenty of guys don't (like that Rodgers guy).

I'll take a mediocre to nonexistent rookie season as a trade off for long term success.

Its almost a given we are going to draft a QB this year, after Hurney left the depth chart bare.

There's a Lot of talk from some such as @Jeremy Igo on Twitter that we should draft another QB in rounds 1-2

The Colts traded away a their former first round pick WR for a backup QB because the Uncertainty of Luck.  Luck missed half a season.  Came back and wasnt right similar to Cam.  Then he sat out a whole entire season, now he is having a career year.

Now......................................What if Taylor comes out and looks good?

What if Taylor Heinicke comes out this weekend looking solid and lead us to a W.

What if Taylor Heinicke goes onto New Orleans and has another good game

Would you be comfortable enough to not panic and throw away a round 1-3 pick at QB? And be patient with Cam atleast another season?

If we're patient and Cam just doesnt retern to normal and its another season like last year or this year?  Cams contract could ride out and we could package up ala Philly with Wentz and draft that franchise QB once we're 100% sure?

Quality post. I’d say it would pose less of a concern and we can focus on more long term solutions for the defense as opposed to patch working ourselves like we did with Pickles.

This is another 2013 draft as far as QBs. Better to wait until 2019 and get by on the Brock Osweilers of the world if Cam can't go next year.

Agreed

Fromm, Tua, the Georgia transfer who is sitting out this year Eason up in Washington (was the starter at UGA, got injured in opener, and Uga stuck with Fromm), alsk there are some rumors Herbert may return to Oregon this year.

We have so  many other needs and there is so much uncertainty about Cam, I think the best option is to sign a veteran for a year or two who can manage a game.

Drafting a player is for 4 years.

If we draft a QB in the first round, it may suggest they know more than we know.

We shouldn't try to find our next franchise QB in this draft. For one thing, the pickings are going to be slim and for another, if Cam ends up missing next season we should have an even better pick in a draft projected to be stronger at the QB position. Reaching for a bum who won't even get on the field next season is a panic move that we can't afford to make.

You guys do know this guy is the only healthy QB on the roster, right?

The only reason Cam isn't on IR today is because there's nobody else but Heinicke. If Heinicke were to get injured in one of these last 2 games, Cam will be on the field, regardless of how hurt he may be.

If Carolina were to find an emergency QB to sign in the next couple days (Colin K), you might see Cam on IR.

Going forward, this team will likely go back to a 3-QB roster with a medically uncertain starter in Cam Newton

Kyle Allen is on the roster, but...

If Taylor comes out and lights it up, I will say it's great to see. But from a unbiased perspective, I'd say the sampling size is too small. Atlanta is worse than us and NO will have nothing to play for.

I'd still say find another QB. Had he been on since the Brown's game, okay we'd definitely see what we have and make a good decision. The sample size would have given the team enough data to move accordingly in the office season and draft.

Rothlesburger won the Superbowl as a Rookie unless I remember wrong.

Steelers won the Superbowl when he was a rookie.   Too much credit goes to QBs on those.  Take Peyton Manning.  His last ring shouldn't even factor into where he ranks.
