Russell Wilson is the first name that comes to mind.

Edit: Derek Carr and Dalton played as a rookies, but I'm not sure what your criteria for "lit it up" would be.

Ok I’ll give you Carr in spite of his 3-13 record and let’s throw Prescott in there too. That’s still a minute percentage and equivalent of hitting the lottery

Web and Edwards were WRs/return guys who happened to be able to play QB.

Thats the only reason we got one.

We could bring a Terrelle Pryor by that means as a 3rd QB

Heineke might be decent I like his mobility he ran 4.6 and ok arm

Fair enough, but I'm not especially concerned about guys lighting it up as rookies.  Plenty of guys don't (like that Rodgers guy).

I'll take a mediocre to nonexistent rookie season as a trade off for long term success.

The post of mine that was quoted said I wouldn’t mind taking a guy to develop. Just said no way I’m counting on a rookie taken beyond the first round to come in and lead us to playoffs if Cam can’t go.

He was an absolute dumpster fire in Super Bowl XL.  9/21 with 2 INTs.

exactly, they won despite Peyton.

Peyton is an all time great regular season QB.  That's it.   Even his first Super Bowl win the Colts D lead the way suddenly coming to life in the postseason.

Sorry I meant Ben in Super Bowl XL.  Peyton Manning was better than that in both of his Super Bowl wins (even 50) but not by a lot.

Its almost a given we are going to draft a QB this year, after Hurney left the depth chart bare.

There's a Lot of talk from some such as @Jeremy Igo on Twitter that we should draft another QB in rounds 1-2

The Colts traded away a their former first round pick WR for a backup QB because the Uncertainty of Luck.  Luck missed half a season.  Came back and wasnt right similar to Cam.  Then he sat out a whole entire season, now he is having a career year.

Now......................................What if Taylor comes out and looks good?

What if Taylor Heinicke comes out this weekend looking solid and lead us to a W.

What if Taylor Heinicke goes onto New Orleans and has another good game

Would you be comfortable enough to not panic and throw away a round 1-3 pick at QB? And be patient with Cam atleast another season?

If we're patient and Cam just doesnt retern to normal and its another season like last year or this year?  Cams contract could ride out and we could package up ala Philly with Wentz and draft that franchise QB once we're 100% sure?

what is this?

Remember Matt Moore? This is what this is gonna feel like. Kid is gonna have two solid games, film will be out on him and if Cam's shoulder doesn't recover we're putting Heinicke back out there and you'll see a gradual decline as more film gets out on him until he looks very average.

Yeah I have to say the same thought entered my mind.

Hence why I said it'd be a mistake to pass on using a high draft choice on a potential quarterback of the future just because Taylor Heinicke looked good in two largely meaningless games.

Gotta be smart about these things...

Ugh, that happens with every QB, including Cam.
