Would the Panthers be interested in Greedy Williams?

The Panthers can't afford to pass on blue chip defensive players to select project DEs who have people here in a tizzy because of the height/weight section on their espn.com page.

I understand everyone wanting D-line help but you would have to consider him based on how the board fell before you.

You don't pass on an elite CB to take a DE that is rated a lot lower on your board.  For all we know we could be looking at the 3rd DE at that point.

To illustrate lets make up some grades for Greedy and 3 DEs.

Greedy - 94

DE1 - 93

DE2 - 92

DE3 - 88

If all 4 are on the board then yes I would consider DE1 and or DE2.  If DE1 and DE2 are off the board then I'm taking Greedy over DE3.

This is why you have a scouting department.  This is why you use grades, not just ranks.  Just because you really need a DE doesn't mean you take the next one on the list.

For whatever reason I'm thinking a DE or OT might end up being the vest value where we end up picking.

I’m for anyone that makes an impact like Christian has as a number 1 pick, like Moore has, like Thomas Davis, like Jonathan Stewart.

I really think for once we have a chance at a Left Tackle,..

if we can get a Left Tackle, which would bring that kind of impact,.. that would be it.

otherwise I would love to get a pass rusher . With all the hybrid scheming get a 3-4 outside linebacker or a real DE.

so my choices are those in that order, of course a big corner would be fine too.

Josh Norman proved for us just what a big time corner does for impact. How many games did he save for us when he was here and hot? Quite a few.

so OT, OLB or DE, and then CB, then DT— a good penetrating DT would be good— Phily made that work.

Jackson moves to slot in nickel and put greedy on the outside.  Bradberry has one more year left on deal, probably let him walk after next year cuz i dont see him being worth crazy money right now.

This would be the ideal situation IMO.  Jackson can be a top slot CB IMO

Dont agree on Bradberry though.

Are you high? There’s no reason we should pick a linebacker in the first round.

In my opinion it’s Bosa > Greg Little/Jonah Williams > Clelin Ferrel > Greedy Williams. We need to get better up front. I wouldn’t mind trading future picks/players to go up and get Bosa.

*** off. Don’t insult me because you think you know your poo, you don’t punk ass

Yep, reaching for the 3rd best de in the draft over the 1 cb is something a bad gm would do. Obviously you’d want to fill as many holes as possible before the draft, but having greedy, donte, and bradberry in the secondary would do wonders. I’ve said from the start fa focus should be on de and and G mainly. I hope this is a scenario that ends up happening

I am going to say that it is highly likely Williams does not test out as well as Bradberry athletically when the combine rolls around.

If there were 3 DEs with grades as high as Greedy then I wouldn't have a problem taking one of them.  Its not so much their positional rank as it is their grade.

I'm not saying we should take Greedy, I really haven't watched much of him yet.  I'm just not crazy about chasing need in the top 10 of the draft.  You need to be chasing an elite player.

After bosa Greedy is my Favorite player in his draft just because of the the rare nature of big shutdown corners. The only other big corner that I can think of that is able to say they are legit is Sherman. Cromarte also comes to mind but normally these big guys don’t have the ankles to keep up with elite WRs.

If williams drops for that reason he gets a leg up over definately a defensive tackle and all but bosa and maybe Gary at this point. I don’t like the idea of bpa. Bpa within reason is more like the word I would use. Bpa gets you Vern butler and Shaq Thompson. You draft guys that come in to backup roles and maybe never get out of those roles.

I would take even Little over another defensive tackle because I know little is going to play and be the best player at his position on this team.  No more let’s just take a guy and let him be a backup for 3-4 years.

We don't really have a nickle corner either unless u want to watch Captain my Captain get burned repeatedly... I'm not saying value Corner over Pass Rush but you have to campare whats on the board at the time player vs player. I don't want a BPA pass rush when a pro bowl corner is sitting there either.

True, but our secondary isnt the best either and  if a elite talent is there.  You dont pass him up, especially when the DL in this draft is deep and you can get a solid player in the 2nd

Are you drafting a Charles Harris over a Marshon lattimore the other year, "just because dont have a pass rush" and have a need at DE?

Are you taking a Deforest Buckner in 2016 over a Jalen Ramsey just because you have a need at DE?

I ageee I think the coaching staff should have a plan just in case the ideal scenario doesn’t play out for us, again I’d fill as many needs as possible then let the draft play our and fill holes there. I just don’t want us passing on blue chip guys just because we don’t have an immediate need for them
