Would you be willing to sit Cam an entire season and see how he does after?

If you sit him you have no choice but to sign him to another 4-5 year extension so you think of it as sitting him for a fifth of his time left, minimum. If that’s not in your plans then drafting a quarterback becomes priority one.

Not sure why that would be the case.  If we have to let him sit a year to heal then we need to see how he plays and holds up in his final year and then decide on extending or moving on.

And this discussion brings up another point.  The Panthers have known Cam was hurt for a long time, and apparrently the word from the doc the whole time was rest is what it need.

How much better off would we have been to pull Cam weeks earlier so that rest and healing process could begin.

Our backup could have gained valuable game experience and familiarity with the O (depending on if he survived) and going into next season could be ready to lead the team for a stretch.

Then if we made the right moves in the draft and FA, Allen could possibly lead us to maybe 4-4 and all of a sudden Cam has been healing for nearly a year and maybe he is ready to step back in.  From that point a real run could be possible.

Its frustrating how his injury has been mismanaged, going back to allowing it to continue shredding away in 2016.  But as always, its been on Cam to save jobs.

End Rant, my appologies

i hate to invoke andrew luck, but look at him rifling passes into tiny windows tonight compared to the ducks he was lofting two years ago.

if cam's shoulder legitimately needs a year or more of rest and repair, fug it, make it happen. this is a long game and a healthy cam can play another five to ten years if he wants.

This. Luck helped ensure that we draft Cam to begin with, and now hopefully Luck will ensure we handle his injury properly. If he's not able to practice daily and be accurate beyond 20 yards, he sits. Period. If we do anything other than this, we have lost a generational talent due to mismanagement.

No.  I think we have the pieces to win without Cam though it would be awesome if he were healthy.  If we have the ability to win....we should certainly try.  I love Cam....but I love watching the Panthers winning more then I love Cam's brand.

It seems like the Panthers are more concerned in protecting their brand then winning right now which is disconcerting.

I would enjoy a Superbowl victory equally as much regardless of who's behind center.

Who said we wouldn't be trying to win?

I can't really off the top my head rattle off quotes and I don't feel like putting in the time copying and pasting various snippets of posts, but collectively there are a few that seem to indicate we should sit Cam and tank for a draft pick.

I hate that idea.  I want to win.

We all want to win.

If that's what the medical people are saying, that sitting out a year would get his shoulder back to normal while continued play would prevent that from happening, then the only logical answer is "hell fuging yes".

I mean, we're already throwing away another season on Hurney/Rivera, so what would we really be losing?
