How much longer is our Super Bowl window?

I believe we were not far off this year. The 6-2 record proves that. Hate to say this but Captain was our biggest liability! We still found ways to score, but teams would just focus on Captain and poof third and long becomes a first down.

we overachieved up to that point and beat teams who were garbage. the eagles still had wentz and the ravens still had succo. The bungals started good but then died like us. The cowboys had no receivers and it was game 1. Schedule was too tough down the stretch.

The way I think of it our window is shut until drew brees retires or we have a legendary draft. We're low on talent compared to other nfc teams and even in our own division. It wouldn't be a stretch to say every single team in our division has more talent then we do...

Perhaps. I believe we have the best CB duo in the division, as well as the best RB and the 2nd best QB in our division heading into the next season. Also Luke is debatably the best LB in the league

If Cam is 100% healthy then it's still wide open. If not, it's shut. But fortunately, as we've seen recently with several teams, a window can open any time out of nowhere, with a great draft, coaching change or QB, etc.

Things are not as dire as huddlers portray. We were far from a Superbowl team in 2014 and caught fire in 2015. In 2018 we lost a ton of games by 7 or less. The biggest question mark is Cam. If Cam stayed healthy we were a real contender this year even with a suspect defense early. I was pleased with Allen's success which made me more appreciate this offense. I think we will be a playoff team next year. History says we will.

My worst fear is the falcons or bucs getting ed Oliver and or greedy williams. This is not a good year to have division rivals in front of you. It's actually tragic if people don't see what's about to happen. Depending on who our division gets this draft, the cam newton era could very well be over.

It’s certainly nearing its end if it’s not over already.

As most have said:  as Cam goes so goes our Super Bowl window.

I just wonder what is really wrong (i.e. the diagnosis) with Cam's shoulder.  Some things can only be fixed by surgery and even then there's no certainty that you will come back as strong as you once were.

I wish the organization a/o Cam was more open to letting the fans know what the plan is, you don't have to give all the info but can this be fixed without surgery or does Cam need to go "under the knife" to ultimately have a chance to be "Cam" again.  Every team in the NFL knows Cam's right shoulder is an issue and they will be keying on putting him down and hitting him on that shoulder every chance they get.  I'm basically saying the organization can let the fans of the team in on a little info.....

Not hearing anything is a little disconcerting.  I suppose the draft/FA may give us a clearer idea of what we may be looking at.

I hope Cam does what's needed so he can come back and be the Cam we all know he can be!

We're at the same place the Saints were in 2015. We've got the big pieces, we just need another good draft and FA. The health of Cam and Luke are big. We can have a quick bounce back, but we need to be built with the goal to beat the Saints 2x a year.

I just wanted to bring this topic up because 2 of our cornerstones are getting a bit older (Cam and Luke are both close to 30) Luke showed a bit of regression this year (probably more on the front 4 but he wasn't as dynamic this season). And Cam's shoulder is probably never gonna be the same like it was again. (He is going on 30 next season.) How much longer do we have to win with Luke and Cam?

I think it's already over, especially if we keep our GM. I find it kind of interesting that, among a few other things, the major story around Gettleman being let go was around him potentially making the tough decision to not extend TD. Now here we are, back on the Hurney train, without TD anyway.

People can dog on the draft picks during Gettleman's time ("hindsight is 50/50"), but I think he was pretty good at putting together a roster. The main cornerstone idea, from my view, seemed to be that you have buckets of money allocated to each position group based on how important they are to the team. No one can fall outside of that system, and the owner has to have the stomach for it. When J-No was too pricey for a CB, he let him walk. The Patriots seem to run a similar shop, and probably have an easier time doing it considering more guys will swallow that hard-ball contract when a good chance at a ring is in the cards.

I wish we had him back. His system isn't working out so well in New Jersey because I don't think he's getting the last word on contracts. A 5yr, $95m deal for a wide receiver doesn't seem like something Gettleman would have done in his time here. Like I said before, once you fall outside the system, it sends a ripple effect through the roster. Now, the Giants have less money for the supporting cast. How many times did the Lions make the playoffs extending Calvin Johnson?

I still believe in our coach, and hope that we can hire a good DC that we can keep around, but I don't believe in Hurney's ability to consistently field decent rosters. Just my 2 cents on a hump day rant.giphy.gif
