Panthers biggest need per PFF (You already know...)

Can he play LT? That continues to be the question that has plagued Panthers fans really since Jordan Gross departed. PFF picked the biggest offseason need for all 32 teams, and of course LT is our biggest need, and this is their super short synopsis:

Matt Kalil’s $55 million deal is shaping up to be an all-time bad signing. He earned a 63.1 overall grade in 2017 before missing all of 2018 with yet another injury. It will cost them more to cut the soon to be 30-year old tackle than to roster him in 2019, but either way, you likely don’t want him starting.

No, only an enemy would want him starting. With the contract what it is, let us pray that he's a handsome-paid backup and that Marty Hurney can indeed pull a rabbit out of the hat to finally put an end to one of the Huddle's biggest not-so-private jokes since Gross left (half o' pun not intended).

I dont even know why ppl are upset over this. We neglected the OL for years banking on Cam being a superior athletic phenom that we could skimp on OL because he was so gifted top be mobile/strong and get away from the failings of the OL.

LT isnt our biggest need. Our biggest need is for this organization to care about Cam as a true QB..and not a physically gifted athlete that can overcome the lack of complimentary parts most other teams place around him,.

I think you keep him as the main back up and get the cap hit over with. Moton at LT and hopefully Williams at RT. Then a misc back swing tackle. If we draft a LT (1st rd) then Moton at RT. If you need to sign a back up anyway get the dead money over with and have him one more year. Freezes up some money for another position.

Due to being stuck with Kahil's contract and having Moton, Williams, and Clark on the roster, I still believe interior OL and DE are bigger needs.

Kalil can be cut June 1 without famhaet

Williams and Clark are FA, which I hope is resigned.  Williams for obvious reason, Clark for depth

Wouldn't it still be a huge cap hit getting rid of him after June 1? It seems from what I've read it would be more advantageous to cut after the 2019 season.

I understand we've been without an elite LT for many years, but with Ryan Kahil retiring and really not having a standout guy at LG (Van Roton), I see interior OL as more of an immediate need. Now if we do cut M Kahil after June 1 and don't retain Williams and/or Clark, I agree tackle would be the bigger need.

he would still count against our cap but it would be less than his salary.  I forget what the savings would be, but it has been posted here several times

In our final two games of the season each of our 2 backup quarterbacks were unable to finish the game behind this OL without injury.

If you really don't think the offensive line is our highest priority, you're either shitposting, or you just have no clue what you're talking about.

I have to ask ...at what point did you feel i said our OL was not at what it should be? Have you even read my previous posts where i made it very clear our team neglected the OL because Cam was a freakish athlete?

If you really cannot read what i said before..please do not acccuse me of shitposting.

    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
    • He has been a good player and clean player over the years. I don’t follow that close but think he was closing in on setting his resume for his place in the all time rankings. I am sympathetic to him becaus this will hurt him there.
