Olsen Debating Retiring

For those saying "it'll be there next year" well that's not a given.    They could find someone that is better.    No doubt I'm sure there's roles to fill but maybe the booth job would be grabbed up.     Like others said, there is a lot to consider.     I hope he makes a decision soon so we know what we are working with.    I don't expect him to play but 4 games or something if he stays.

He might pull a Witten and say right before draft I'm retiring. LMAO, I don't really care because he never makes it through the year. Time to hang it up Greg!

Once again this franchise (Marty) shows the rest of the NFL just how stupid they can be.

Bill is up in Boston laughing his ass off.

The outpouring of "hindsight is 20/20 folks" will be rolling around soon.  God almighty I wish Tepper would get the football side of the business in order.  I can only hope this is a "here is all the rope you want" season from him.

Agree with you on Tepper but IMO, that Olsen extension was likely all JR. Gettleman wasn't willing to be JR's yes man and JR knew that Hurney was and that's exactly why Hurney was brought back. I'm not surprised that Rivera and crew were given another year but I was honestly shocked that Tepper didn't make a GM change over the off-season.

I agree that JR had a lot to do with it...I also think that DG was forced to sign both Matt Kalil and Capt. back, and for way more than he normally would.

GM should have been brought in, with the idea in mind to evaluate RR for 1 year,  then make the call.  Honestly, I would have preferred to see everyone gone, but the GM in the very least.  Lost a lot of "new owner" excitement after that move (non move) by Tep.

I think the timing of this info and Munnerlyn's non-post-June 1st status means that we're saving one of those for Greg.

It is past time for him to hang it up, IMHO, and I would hope that he does what is best for himself and the Panthers. Maybe that'll be an injury settlement or whatever but, at this point, I'm not expecting us to have Greg Olsen on the field next season.

CJ Uzomah and Jesse James are looking like good targets in the FA market right now.

Yep, Tepper came in talking a big game, but I'm still waiting to see this owner hell-bent on winning at all costs. Sorry, I'm not excited about a logo at midfield and other non-football moves.

The logo at midfield was/is one of the weirdest quirks that this fanbase has.

Tepper sounded tough, and ready to roll...then quickly realized that you don't have to do a damn thing to make money in Charlotte, PSL's baby.

Give me a consistent winner and I don't care if you paint a giant purple dildo at midfield.

He really should take the TV money and run....that money is going to last long after his playing days are over. no more getting hit no more foot injuries. he can be home with his family almost every night it just seems like a better way. That said once that high level of competition is gone its almost impossible to replace. its like a drug

Why would that money disappear if he plays one more NFL season at a much, much, much, much higher salary?

    • Actually that 4400 was based on a 16 game season to match Bryce's 16 games this year. Your offense has to be to drive the ball when it matters. Bryce doesn't do that with any level of consistency. If you're building a team that isn't focused on your QB, then fine. Then there's no need to pay Bryce as a franchise QB because literally anyone else will do. If you're going to pay him 50m plus per season, you have to be able to put the team on his shoulders and know he's going to carry the load. So far, when the pressure is on to get it done, Bryce has fallen miserably short of the target. 4-6 to finish out the season and 0-2 when all we need is a win to secure a playoff spot isn't stepping up and proving yourself as a franchise QB. I'd say it's quite the opposite.  There isn't a single coach in this league that would take Bryce over Burrow and very few if any that would take Bryce over Prescott. Hurts didn't have to throw in 2025 because Philly's defense was disgusting and Saquan had a MVP season. But then again, Hurts has shown that he can when it counts, and then there's his signature. Philly runs the tush push to lethal perfection, but that's a play we can't even consider with Bryce. You used 3 QBs from teams that had no defense to show QB stats don't always matter. When we had the worst defense in the NFL, we didn't see Bryce step up and carry the offense and put up gaudy numbers in a losing season because we were playing catch up. It was pretty much the opposite.  What have we seen from Bryce consistently to consider offering him a top 10 NFL franchise QB level contract? At the end of the day, that's all that matters.
    • I mean, what fanbase has high expectations when you have a QB like Bryce leading your team?
    • If you pay Bryce $50M a year you greatly limit your ability to put the type of team around him you need to have to have a chance to win. THAT is the problem. Hell, we can't win with him on a rookie contract. How the hell are we supposed to start winning with him paying him like a franchise QB and having to make tough roster decisions to accommodate his cap hit?
