The value at Free Safety is in the 2nd round..

No matter what we go in the 1st round edge rusher or OT .. Marty better plan to get his starting free safety in the 2nd round.. That's where the run is going to come from.  Between Savage, Abram, Nasir, Thornhill, Thompson and Rapp.. You can get a starter and not pray they fall to the 3rd round .. Or get a teir lower than them and pray he beats out the crap on the roster.. With the word of Galuden switch .. I can't see how they aren't targeting the top FS talent in this draft...

Agreed. I'm not sure there will be a safety taken in the 1st but there will probably be a bunch go in the 2nd and 3rd. There will be some good options available at #47. There may or may not be at #77.

Ageee I think you get a day 1 starter at 47.. Your gambling at 77..jmo

Is Rapp still a second round prospect after his showing? Better yet is he even a option for our team? I dont think we can afford another slow guy back there with rapp being most likely to play SS or in the box. I think that has Reid all over it, we need a rangey Centerfielder type ball hawk. savage,Nasir, Thornhill are My top choices here and I agree it almost has to be safety here.

Been saying this.  With the QBs and edge rusher in the 1st.  And even a potential to have 3+ WRs in the 1st which is more than normal.

Combined with this years Elite Safety FA class where many teams with glaring holes there filled them (and remember teams usually use FA to set up their draft)

There is going to be some really really good FS guys for us in the 2nd

I was talking to another Huddler about this over the weekend, with Reids extension IMO Rapps skill set should be off our broad.

I know we had him in a few days ago but a Rapp/Reid safety tandem is gonna get abused in the passing game.

I think the safety pick kinda has to be Savage/Thornhill since Adderley will be gone

A edge rusher like Sweat or Burns in the 1st

And

Savage, Adderly, or Thornhill in the 2nd

Our defense will be back on track and cooking.  Back to what we were when we won the division 3 consecutive seasons

Seems it depends on who is there and their ultimate value.  With quarterback and FS both projected as high as our second pick I suspect if both guys we want are there we will go QB first if there are questions about Cam. If we go FS it should suggest backup QB isn't a huge need.

I know right,... what a waste

I’ll believe it when I see it...I listened to Smiths interview all he said was we were taking a Qb...people trying to predict how high is pure speculation. It’d seem to me that we’ve met with several guys in the Grier/northwestern/auburn QBs tier so they don’t have to reach on one. We’ve met with like every 2nd rd safety and oline/dline prospect ha so that’s an indicator to me of where they want to go

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
