I don’t mind this pick at all. TBH, he might be a solid guard. I’d hope he never sees the field but he’s a developmental tackle and since we traded 78 and were going to take Grier, we only had the 5th or 6th to do that.

Get him a helmet and some coaching   If he becomes serviceable and can be in the rotation this year then you’ve gotten your money’s worth.

The hate seems to be an extension of hurney hate.  He’s on the team so I’m gonna pull for him to get better and contribute.

Please don't tell me that you think that Luke is good in coverage. Definitely his week spot. The jury is still out on Shaq (sometimes looks great other times not so good) and Donte has shown promise. But all in all, this defense needs major upgrades in the secondary or they will get burned consistently like they did last year. You can't go in to this year with the same personnel and expect different results, not with the quality of QBs in the league, specifically in our division.

Luke is one of the best coverage lbs in the league. To your point you can expect different results this time because the defense itself is going to change drastically. You might not even expect the persons mentioned to be covering. Instead a DE or OLB would drop back and cover. Even in the 4-3 base defense that has been run this team wasn't that bad in coverage. This teams problem defensively was rushing the passer.

Wow really? As great of a LB as he is, Luke struggles in coverage. If you don't see that then I wont even bother commenting further. And by the way, I think Luke is one of the best, if not THE best, LB in the league, I'm just honest in my observations.

Outside of last year I believe Luke has been the best rated MLB in coverage and to me has shown it, up to you what you thing of PFF. Remember the Thanksgiving dallas game or the time he almlost swatted the ball away from Julio wich he didnt but damn was he close and in position all the way down the field. I even remember a time when he made it to a deep sideline pass and deflected it because the corner had messed up. Just wait to see this defense under Ron, I swear he really better call the plays next year as the whole d looked bad under Washington.

Anyone critical of Luke in coverage is a fuging idiot and not worth arguing with. See his college and NFL career for plenty of examples.

He gets caught napping at the snap...

Like how does someone get caught napping???

I used to coach OL and had a chance to talk to OL coaches from Tennessee and UNC about film study.  Head moving side to side means that the OL is confused and looking to react to a particular player--usually during a stunt, but not always.  "Napping" as the writer puts it could be that he is not as familiar with the playbook as he should be-thinking about his duty more than the snap count---thinking makes you slower.   It could be that the front has him confused.  Knowing your stuff is the remedy, and that is good news.  As he sees more and learns more, he will be proactive and faster.
