A good look at Cam's new throwing technique compared to last year

From a behavior modification point of view they are doing exactly what they should be doing to try and change Cam's throwing motion. You  start small and easy so there is no stress and the motion of the throw is more important than where the ball goes. Little by little expand on this keeping the motion constant. Eventually he will be able to throw deep and accuracy without undue stress and strain. He doesn't have to revert back to his old throwing motion because it won't work as well as his new one. Obviously the new compact throw is what he should have done all along. Changes can be permanent and lasting if they are repeated daily.  If Cam starts reverting back and gets addressed and he keeps working on his new style, it can become permanent  Just like repetition is how he developed his old throw, repetition is how you can develop your new throw.

Cam is 30, no way he changes is throwing motion this late in his football career.

Great athletes are always looking for ways to improve their craft.... that’s why they’re great. Cam wants to be considered great when he hangs the cleats up so he’s going to do what it takes.

The problem was never his throwing motion. The problem is how he got hit by Watt to reaggravate the injury. Theres always going to  be a scare when outside rushers try to hit the throwing arm in motion for Cam. Thats the biggest concern. But with this new technique it does eliminate how open he will be to defender hitting that arm when he draws it back. As long as the outside pressure on either side is solid and keeps the defender inside and doesnt let themget to the outside where Cam cant see them, he will be abled to evade or tuck for a sack.

Actually Norv addressed this issue in his talk and said it wasn't designed to help protect his shoulder and that hits like he took from Watt were part of football. He said the best way to avoid injury from sacks is better O line protection and getting the ball out quickly. Having a more compact throw was designed to help.longterm by reducing stress on the shoulder and increasing accuracy.

Anything can permanently change if its done repeatedly over and over. Day in and night out. He is a professional QB he can easily get 1,000 reps in daily. How do you think NBA players can hit 3s so easy. They do it over and over until it becomes 2nd nature.

Cam doesn’t need to change his motion to be great.

This whole thing reminds me of the whole Cam needs to change his footwork thing, it’s not gonna happen

Saw norwell was in the clip and concluded the same thing. Is it that different because of Cams mechanics or because one was an in game live action throw and the other was in a drill throwing to a stationary target while rehabbing a surgically repaired shoulder?

Yeah that's the correct take. I don't see how you can make these comparison off those side by sides but the media needs some talking points.
