Safety Market

I think a trade is more likely than a signing, unless someone unexpected gets cut.

We'll give Gaulden a legit shot at FS. Reid has SS on lock. Behind them, I expect we'll keep Colin Jones and Cole Luke.

Blanding and Nacua are dark horse candidates. Ballard might have a slim chance.

We just don't value the safety position enough for it to be a concern. Especially the center fielder FS spot.

I love Tre Boston begging someone to sign his sorry ass.  Sorry, bro.  You aren't good at football.

I suspect it is less about him as a football player and more him as a team cancer and locker room distraction. Not to say he is anything more than an average safety

Yep, I was definitely wrong on that. Maybe it truly was collusion, because the market doubled from 2018 to 2019. That included Matthieu who was a FA both years giving us a perfect apples to apples comparison. I typically shoo away the conspiracy theories, because there were so many FA safeties and draftees that you could say in 2018 the position was marginalized and there was an oversupply but the almost identical situation birthed a completely different result one year later so I can’t really shoo away the thought that maybe part of it really was about making a point to Reid.

Yeah it really does make you wonder. It could be a product of this year being a stronger FA class but even still, it was a real explosion.
